Overrated as frick. Only won 2 SEC titles that were not shared and he's a convicted NCAA cheat. Only went .500 against Bama and that is with Perkins and Curry as HC for over half of his time.

If he coached anywhere other than Auburn he would be just another slightly above average coach.

Next is Shug with his 1 SEC title in 25 years.

Spurrier.

He's a legend yet he only won one title with all the talent he had amassed over the years?

Steve Spurrier is the most overrated coach in the history of college football.

Another instance of you being wrong. Do you do this on purpose just to try to make your point.

You must have not been born during the Jordan Era. Fan support and political support during that time was heavy tilted toward UAt during those years. Throw in the Bear's recruiting tactic(see Junction Boys), and you have a claim that Jordan was one of the most underrated coaches in SEC history.

Saban is a good coach, however he has landed in unbelievably lucky spots. LSU is a recruiting dream if Les could coach close to Sabear he would have 2-3 more titles. Saban left Miami couldn't hang with the pro coaches/athletes landed at Bama another recruiting dream because the whole state damn near and politicians only care about the glory of Bammer football. He is over hyped to an extent, but hell who doesn't today's media over hype. Look what they did with Ben Simmons.

Jerdan had just won a NC and had Auburn rolling before Beat ever got to Bama. He had a tremendous head start and still got his arse handed to him by Bryant.

You need to stick to trolling NO men's rooms. Shug averaged winning almost 70% of his games while playing TN, UGA, UF and Bama every year. I remember the Bear won a couple of SEC championships by playing Vandy as an extra game.

Sly Croom

I remember when ESPN did a show called "50 States in 50 days". The Mississippi episode was hosted by Mark May. At the end of the episode, May was asked who was the all time greatest coach in Mississippi history. He said Sylvester Croom! Sly was in his 2 season at Miss State and had won a total of 6 games. He should've said Vaught but I expected him to say Jackie Sherrill because he used to play for him at Pitt. I couldn't believe it. Mark May's bias about anything Ole Miss is so obvious.

I don't understand how someone who has won 4 of the last 7 NCs could be considered over hyped or overrated. You can't do much better than that, regardless of his "hype".

Explain to me how Croom was a bad person? Probably one of the better people that you will meet. Croom was a horrible HC. I will give you that.

Shug had a winning percentage less than 70% and you think he is underrated.

Dumb frick, he was going against what was then called the KKK, now called the REC. He had the Governor and the Legislature financially pulling strings against his program, especially after the Ear's years. I guess you haven't read Junction Boys ? Try to get it on tape.

So salty.

Shug was rolling and Bear came in and beat the brakes off of a very average coach. But he was underrated.

As an OU fan, even if he wins another national title, he will not be top ten all time when all said and done. He's easily top 25 all time at this point though.

Eh...

Shug was 5-13 vs Bryant, of which only 2 were against good Bama teams. Shug was still a great coach, but Alabama wasn't beating out Auburn for SEC titles because they had Vandy on the schedule.

Shug also padded his wins with 16 seasons of beating up on Chattanooga, and he played against Kentucky 20 times.

His record against ranked opponents was 29-53-1 during his career. By contrast, Bryant was 50-38-5 at Alabama. For contrast, Saban is 29-15.

Shug is still a really good coach. I just don't know if he'd have the same level of elevation at UGA, UT, Bama, etc.
