bullshite- he has two more seasons max to get us back to petrino level or he's gone. i guess it's hard for you to understand but we don't have players crawling out of the wood work here like you do in la. therefore, we can't hire just any blithering idiot to coach and just coast along to 9 or 10 wins per year.

Except Petrino won 10 and 11 games back to back there in seasons 3 and 4. So, explain that. Do you think a good coach couldn't have won 10 games last season at Arkansas?

This almost begs the question of whether a coach should purposely have an awful 1st year so that they seem like they're trending up later on.

He took over a team that had poorly recruited and basically lost a whole year of recruiting when John L was here.
Not to mention, we did a complete 180 in regards to offensive philosophy.

You might be reading too much into this forum. Many Arkansas fans are still up in the air about him. The whole 10 wins argument is strange because who made that a potentially 10 win team? Most on this site wouldn't have said 10 wins going into last year. He lost to teams he shouldn't have and he beat some teams he shouldn't have, it just looks worst because it was some OOC games.

Who else can go 7-17 in SEC play (6-18 without the 4th and 25 play) and still be regarded as good?

I'll never understand why people take records at face value. It's all about context and what the program was like when they stepped in.

seems like you're just treading water with your last two coaches, hell our Offensive coordinator is better than Florida's coach and offense is supposed to be his forte. If he can't do it at florida where is he going to make it?

According to everyone on here, Butch sucks. But yet he's overrated? Does not compute. You can say the same thing about Bert

Well the op admitted that only their respective fan bases think they are good so somehow that means most overrated.

Nutt's last seasons had a lot more to do with Petrine hitting the ground running too. He also stepped into the best in state recruiting class we have had in at least 15 years his first year. Bielema followed a clown and a narcissist who believed he didn't have to recruit. There is also the issue of schemes. It's easier to run the spread. That's why you see more teams running it, especially arse clown coaches. I'd give an example but just look at my pic. All of those factors contribute to the whole equation. The guy did win 5 sec games last year. He's definitely not overrated at top half of the conference. Ole butter teef is still to be decided

UF gets the Hawgs in Fayetteville, it will be much harder to prepare for Arkansas than you think.

You're smart enough to see the improvement, right?

Maybe not.

Thunderbird - I have a hard time arguing against your logic (logic - swamp swimmer- try it sometimes).

The SEC West was not nearly as competitive when Nutt was here.

Losing to Toledo sucked. Losing to Texas Tech sucked. 0-3 against A&M sucks.

But what would you recommend we do? The guy inherited a dumpster fire and is having some mild success while trying to re-establish a decent foundation for this program.

A guy like Petrino can come in and almost instantly (2-3 yrs) beat the A&M's, MSU's and Ole Misses of the world with a few key play makers and a sharp offensive mind - but he will never have enough talent to win the conference.

A guy like Bielema relies on upgraded talent at all positions. He's trying to do that here, but it won't be overnight. It may not ever happen. I think most of us like where this is going so far and want to see how it plays out.

How long will 7 and 8 wins be considered safe? Because it looks like that's exactly where you're headed once again this year. Agian, he also took a 10 win team and won 8 games last year with the best team he'll have at Arkansas his first 4 seasons there.

Let's once again bring up Petrino, 10 wins in season 3 and 11 in season 4. Bielema wont come close to matching that.

It's funny to see LSU fans talk shite about Bert considering how he's violated them the past 2 years.
