Beilema's not overrated. He gets attention because he's really good for a soundbyte. Butch on the other hand..

Bert. He turned a 2-6 conference record and a win over a 6-6 Texas squad into a contract extension and a raise.

Who else can go 7-17 in SEC play (6-18 without the 4th and 25 play) and still be regarded as good?

I think these are the 2 most overrated coaches in the country not just the SEC.
They're both overrated by their respective fambases. Maybe not fans of other teams.
UF swims through the Swamp. UF opponents drown in it.
Is English your primary language?

Some people act like Arkansas should be winning 9-10 games every year. Guess we should just fire him now with improvement each year.

Bert is fat, so Butch.

You sound like those moron UF fans who were arguing against Muschamp's firing because of his improvement from 4-8 to 6-5.
When you're 0-13 in the SEC you can only get better. That's what's happened with Bielma's "improvement."

To me it seems like Butch gets a lot of heat and Bert gets a free pass for almost anything. Bert has lowered the expectations over at Arkansas. A 9 win season would be some sort of massive accomplishment. I lost some respect for Bielema when he turned a 10 win team into a 8 win team last season losing to Texas Tech and Toledo. He's entering his 4th year and the expectation seems to be 7 or 8 wins.

that's funny- bert was crucified on this very site just a couple of seasons ago. ya remember back when sumlin and gus were gonna dominate, muschamp was gonna kick arse at florida and hold the door at lsu was as good as saban. ahhh good times.

Except you shouldn't be comparing Florida and Arkansas. Florida has won 2 NCs somewhat recently. Like I said earlier, you guys have some high expectations for what he was left with.

Crucified by who? Not Arkansas fans, like I said, you guys just continue to give him a free pass and expect 7 or 8 wins.
You guys thought he was a great replacement for Petrino originally but it's pretty clear he's a step down from that barring some sort of miracle season. Petrino won 10 games in his 3rd season at Arkansas. Bielema turned a 10 win team his 3rd season into an 8 win team. Petrino won 11 games his 4th season at Arkansas, you guys think 9 wins would be a big accomplishment with the team this year.
Lowered Expectations.

No, John L Smith did that. Lol

The funny thing is that Gus and Bert have been basically the same the last 2 years. For some reason Bert is much more popular with his fanbase despite Gus' much better 1st year. I guess it's because Gus is trending down while Bert is trending up.
This almost begs the question of whether a coach should purposely have an awful 1st year so that they seem like they're trending up later on.

Job security, poor Chizik. He got his national title at the expense of his job just 2 years after.

Wait, you really think he didn't take major heat for Texas Tech and Toledo? No one is going to fire a coach who has improved each year regardless of how bad he started.

bullshite- he has two more seasons max to get us back to petrino level or he's gone. i guess it's hard for you to understand but we don't have players crawling out of the wood work here like you do in la. therefore, we can't hire just any blithering idiot to coach and just coast along to 9 or 10 wins per year.

we did? hell i barely knew his name.

Nobody is saying he should be fired after last year, but after the initial shock of losing to those teams, Bielema picked up the whole fanbase with wins over Ole Miss and LSU and it's like you all forgot what happened earlier in the season. 8 wins was celebrated in the end.
Fact is he took what should have been a 10 win team and won 8 games. It's the best team he'll have at Arkansas his first 4 years there too. What happens if Bielema can only manage 7 or 8 wins this year, will that be the status quo moving forward? Nutt got fired after a 10 win and 8 win season back to back. In fact, Nutt got fired after these last 4 seasons at Arkansas:
2004: 5-6, 3-5
2005: 4-7, 2-6
2006: 10-4, 7-1
2007: 8-4, 4-4
Total: 27-21 (56.3%), 16-16 (50%)
Bielema
2013: 3-9, 0-8
2014: 7-2, 2-6
2015: 8-5, 5-3
Total: 18-16, 7-17
So for him to match Nutt's last 4 years he is incapable of reaching .500 in the SEC and needs to go 9-4 overall to basically match or exceed his overall record (%).
