I mean it's still one of the bigger sports programs. And the allegations sound pretty serious.

Be honest, do yall really think we are in trouble here or are you just trolling.

I'll be completely honest. I never know what the NCAA is or isn't going to do about anything. But I also never have a cavalier attitude about allegations either. The NCAA has shown they have no consistency in anything they do over and over again. You just gotta hope your compliance department discloses everything to the NCAA and that they show mercy, but in all reality, it's completely out of your control. No by-law or past precedent is going to affect what the NCAA does, because quite frankly, they don't give a shite based on their track record

I feel like in this thread, every question I ask has to be prefaced with "Not trolling" because of how shitty it's become.

Has UNC received their penalties yet?

I think they hammer ULL and give OM some minor slap on the wrist. As it should bc the current coaches had nothing to do with it.

You do realize this guy worked for 2 past coaches and not the current staff ( believe it was Coach O as a field coach and Nutt as an administrator both under Boone as AD)

the school itself got hammered pretty good by the accreditation board, got a year probation. don't think the AD has been punished yet

Gotcha. And I realize these are two different issues, one being in qualifying and the other being handing out A's for nothing, so the punishment wouldn't necessarily be mirrored here, nor would it involve an indictment of the entire institution.

The thing I think is odd about this is the wrongful termination suit Saunders has against Ole Miss. I wonder what our reason was for firing him when we did.

This is where the NCAA can be "arbitrary as frick".

did they ever even slap a fine on UNC for "inventing classes for athletes" yet?

The NCAA is like the federal govt, it's become an asinine joke of what it's stated purpose is supposed to be and yet the Universities are too fat dumb and happy to do anything about it.

they need about a 5 year trip to the wilderness to learn a lesson and be made an example of at the same time, yet the NCAA may "lose the folder" on this one.

probably similar to why LSU fired D.J. McCarthy and showed Aikem Nicks the door. It actually looks good on Ole Miss that they fired him; however, it looks bad on Ole Miss if the compliance department didn't report his conduct to the NCAA. LSU fired McCarthy and self reported everything he did. They also never played Nicks and he transferred that year to a school in Canada. LSU was only hit with the loss of 2 scholarships. Basically, the NCAA just hates being lied to or teams not self reporting violations. If they have any sort of consistency, that's when they seem to actually hammer teams. Think about Bruce Pearl. What he actually did is legal now and wasn;t a big deal back then, inviting recruits to his house for dinner. But, he lied about it and got hammered by the NCAA.

considering they were just put on a bowl ban in 2012, yeah they probably should but likely won't

But their more to the story, their starting LT was suspended for half of this season and Bo Scarborough lost four games at Alabama for taking cash to visit Ole Miss. Those are tied to the current regime.

Plus who do you think put the NCAA on Saunders after they fired him and all his efforts came to light during a wrongful termination lawsuit? The Ole Miss outside counsel actually helped the NCAA out in this case but everyone is jumping to other conclusions!

Edit: Honestly, something needs to be done. When you put this in context, where we just learned that Tunsil received thousands and thousands of dollars of illegal benefits, over the course of many transactions, it becomes clear that this is an institutional issue.

When you put this into context, Ole Miss may just have to vacate the 2011 season. Our two wins from that year will be sorely missed.
