Which do you prefer?

I saw some softball uniforms that said "Missouri" and it struck me as more "normal" than seeing "Mizzou" all over everything. Repping the state feels more "SEC" to me. Mizzou has that "WHAZZZZZAAAAAAP" vibe to it. I think it would be cooler if you just called yourselves Missouri.

To me they are always Missouri.I seldom call them Mizzou.Just feels foreign.I suppose Mizzou is more marketable, so I get that angle of it.

I tend to agree that spelling it out seems more natural on official stuff like uniforms.

Agree. And I'm not trolling. I just noticed I prefer to call you Missouri.

They are both acceptable and interchangeable with Mizzou fans.

Its definitely not "whazzzzaaaapp" type bullshite and is rooted in tradition at the school since the turn of the 19th century.

We all have things other schools fans dont like/get etc.

I fall off my chair laughing while watching people "call hogs" but its your thing.

I use 'em interchangeably and so do the locals here from my experience the past 2.5 years.

Personally, I like 'em both--no preference.

There was no Mizzou when I grew up following them.I think in '01 when they broke out the new alternate gold uniforms was the first time I ever saw the Mizzou name. They really push the #DLineZou or whatever on Twitter.I don't like it much, but if it helps market the university then good for them.

It could be worse. The hideous Suns PHX jerseys are as bad as it gets.

Yes.Don't recall the Mizzou reference in my youth though.Didn't grow up near Columbia, guess my perspective is different.

It's in both "Fight Tigers"
"Fight for old Mizzou."

And in "Every True Son"
"Hooray, hurrah, Mizzou, Mizzou."

Those weren't written yesterday.

Thats why I asked him what he meant. It would be strange for a Missouri fan not to have heard "Mizzou" at all.

Agreed. Missouri is a lot more classy and traditional sounding than Mizzou. I try to use Missouri as often as I can but find myself saying Mizzou a lot. I find that often times people get confused when they ask where I go to school and I say "Missouri". You either have to say MU, University of Missouri, or Mizzou.

It's simply a nickname. You don't consider Vandy they way. By your standards each of these schools should put this on their jersey.

Texas Agriculture and Mechanical College

Mississippi instead of Ole Miss

Louisina State

It's a simple nickname that has you confused due to the inclusion of Z's.

Edit: my bad A&M fans, always thought the M was for Mining.
