I was a life-long Mizzou fan until the events of last Autumn. During and after the idiocy of CS1950, Melissa Click, and Jana Basler every Mizzou fan (and there were many) within my circle publicly and permanently abandoned ship.

I understand that much of what is posted on message boards is hyperbole so take this for what it's worth. I don't know how the University will recover, or if it's even possible. It is frustrating that a small minority of students could agitate the climate to toxic levels. It's even more frustrating that the administration continues to cave to their every whim.

One cannot speak honestly about this nightmare on Mizzou's message board without being called a "Beaker" or a racist. The party line is to ignore the issue and it will go away. Except, of course, it won't.

That's why lawmakers are involved.
That's why the university is losing millions in donations.
That's why enrollment applications are tanking.

It only took a week or two for Gary Pinkel to kill the program he spent years building. The same group that killed his program now is complemented for interrupting the Board of Curator's meeting.

As per usual, the crybullies whine about those who protest the protests. Meanwhile the University is its own worst enemy. No author could possibly come up with the daily script of negative news that grows naturally at Mizzou.

The school expects fans to love it, but it hates itself.

The culture is toxic from the top down.

You basically just described America right now.

That is happened to Mizzou, in the heart of America ... is no great surprise. Think about it. It is not that far fetched.

It all started in Ferguson, which you failed to mention, and you left out the Michael Sam thing ... but when you add it all together it is a reflection of America right now.

The country is a mess ... Mizzou is just the, what's the word I'm looking for here? Mizzou is the ...

Agree completely.

Dumpster. Fire.

Doesn't look like it's anywhere near over either.

I feel bad for Mizzou, the level headed kids still enrolled, the state of Missouri, and the fans of the football program.

Might as well have gotten the death penalty.

It wasn't just a small minority, it was the whole football team who tried to take the school hostage. But it really is amazing to see something come crashing down so fast. Yes, Mizzou wasn't having a great year, but they had been to 2 straight SEC title games. They had accomplished a great deal in 3 years in the SEC and now it's all over. There is no hope for the program and school and they will now slip into oblivion for many year to come.

So you're abandoning your school because you don't like what happened this fall? You said yourself it was a minority of students. It may suck to watch all these events unfold (though really what's happened beyond a shitstika getting blown out of proportion by everyone -- and I do mean everyone) and you may not agree with whatever it is they're protesting but it's a shite reason (no pun intended) to abandon your school and team.

Were you looking for "...team we're going to crush, then make Yankee jokes at their fans."?

Yeah, quitting on your alma mater is a bad look.

No, it wasn't a small minority. It was the whole team, they abandoned him, not the other way around. He should stop rooting for Mizzou for good.

Here's what kills me.

CS1950 protested over words and perceived threats that have mostly been invalidated. The whole school went up in smoke.

Yet there is video of two Mizzou professors physically assaulting two student reporters (one a minority) and both professors remain employed. This, even though one of those professors was arrested.

In what world does that make sense? Yet the kool-aid drinkers squelch free discourse.

Sorry, some things are more important than football allegiance.

The protests are still going on. Just the other day CS1950 was parading around campus doing their chants. This is still getting worse.

Not really. Beyond the team's "strike," the administration has made it abundantly clear that middle-aged white guys like me are the enemy. This, in spite of the fact that the overwhelming majority of us have cheered for all players, regardless of their ethnicity, for our entire lives.

With me, this is bigger than football.

Sorry, but you can't reason with them. It was frustrating for us to just watch the Missouri stuff for a week. Not sure what to tell you.
