Not at all. I think the perception problems will blow over during the course of the school year, and I expect enrollment to be back to normal by next fall. However, I think it's ridiculous that MU prob won't hire a new President and system Chancellor by late fall or the end of the fall semester. They should already be in place--not interims.

The real question is: Is the SEC worried about Mizzou football kicking arse this year? If not they should be.

Definitely.

Worried about the future of Mizzou? No. The University is the oldest in the Louisiana Purchase territory, it's been around since 1839. It'll be fine. Mizzou has built several new residence halls in the past 10 years, and begun phasing out some older ones. I don't know which ones were closed for this year, but I'd guess older ones. Enrollment had been on an uptick for years, and having a few years where it slacks off a little might not be a bad thing. There are still about 35,000 students there.

Does all this crap hurt the reputation? Yes. Piss me off? Yes. But it will pass. Now that the protestors little group has fallen apart, the real change makers, likely a coalition of students from all cultures, will address any true issues that need to be addressed. Away from the cameras and headlines.

There is talk that Mizzou is going to lose AAU status like nebraska did...

It's as if the rant idiots actually believe an SJW terrorist could actually impact the quality of education one receives at Mizzou, which is top notch.

Enrollment numbers were a perfect storm. The protests certainly hurt, and I'm sure there are lots of students who didn't enroll because of this, but border states are, all of a sudden, doing a lot better job keeping their kids within their borders. Illinois (specifically University of) had crazy high tuition rates and very strict admission standards, even for in-state residents, and so it was cheaper for someone from Chicago to go to Mizzou and pay out of state tuition than it was to go to UofI. Illinois, and Arkansas to a lesser extent, have done a great job recently siphoning off students who would have gone to Mizzou in years past (for reasons that have nothing to do with the protests).

Mizzou always expected the student boom to slow down eventually, but obviously not to the extent that happened this year. I think MU will be fine, but it's going to take several years of growth to get back to where we were this time last year.

I think the residential hall closures are a separate issue all to together.

The 3 dorms were closed due to new ones being built in their place, and those 3 are due for demolition.

1400 less students at $30k= $42 million. Not a big deal.

That's not what I said. There was a multicultural group addressing the some of the protestors concerns before they had their little hissy fit - it wasn't moving fast enough for them. A few members of this group spoke out after the protests - they were intimidated by the loudmouths and felt threatened by them, but completely disagreed with their viewpoints and tactics. This group, from all different colors, cultures, creeds and parts of campus, including administration, will keep working to recommend improvements where they need to be made.
