Just wait and see next season lsu usually fields a pretty dominant team every 4 years... 2003, 2007, 2011, 2015? It's definately setting up to be that way considering a huge majority of our team was underclassmen/true freshman and we still managed to have the #1 defense in the sec.

Now this I would not doubt one bit.

In the 15 years before Gary Pinkel became the head coach they had 2 winning seasons, and several 2 or 3 win seasons

yea it wouldn't have mattered who was coaching then, the Administration was in the process of sinking the athletic dept. Things had no place to go but up, and it took Pinkel 3-5 years to get things off the ground. And still the b12 north was never a world beating div in college ball, Jones at Tenn has as big a hurdle to overcome.

We didn't leave the 12 in great shape either, if not for squeaking a win out over the bigmouth bevos, the final season was generally a wreck. Outside of the win over #1 OU, 5 years ago, Mizzou hadn't done much to talk about. So yea this is a good place for Mizzou to be in, but it hasn't been a constant ramp up to achievement, there has been plenty of setback too.

As I pointed out in the other thread, Pinkels, "we do what we do/we have a system" has yet to get him over the final hurdle of reaching the "next level", and it's still only an outside chance that it ever will.

Good luck to you guys too. Really am a fan of LSU. My one disappointment so far with the SEC is that we haven't gotten to play LSU yet.

Just taking a quick look at some random SEC teams...

Mis. State is 0.13 (worse than Missouri)

Ole Miss is 0.26

South Carolina is 0.16

Kentucky is 0.12

LSU is 0.37

GA is 0.35

Auburn is 0.37

alabama is 0.45

Little known fact: Nebraska is in the Big 10 and they suck. GTFO.

Georgia literally owned Mizzou last year head to head - I'm talking a physical arse whuppin. Game was over before it started. I love Mizzous coach - but they have benefited from some fortunate games and weak schedule.

Hot take...part of the reason they are elite and in the top 10 is because they beat mizzou. If mizzou wins those games, they don't finish in the Top 10. Top 25 is more accurate because it has more fluctuation room when teams lose.

Yeah but they don't win those games, NONE OF THEM. Top 25 is not more accurate because there are some pretty bad teams in the top 25. Wins against top 10 finishing teams, is way better at determining how good your team is.

still counts". They were undefeated national champs...easy schedule or not. Would you rather have tough schedule and go 8-4? If we are looking objectively since our arrival...

only Alabama and Auburn have any claim to talking shite. They are the only teams who have achieved more than us in our 3-year old SEC life.

Who's talking shite? All am saying is that as a team, you have been overrated. It shows, every single time, when you play a team that you should be on their level.

Winning is all that matters and you should be proud of that, but it still doesn't take away the fact that faced against another great team, you lose, and usually very bad.

Let's use 2013. South Carolina beats Mizzou in OT and ends up in Top 5. If Mizzou wins that game, combined with other losses, does South Carolina end up in the Top 10? Not a slight to SC, but I don't think they would with a 3 loss season. It is just a terrible way of trying to compare teams, especially when the difference between #9 vs #17 might only be AP writers opinions.

I don't think we have been overrated...we typically lose to teams ranked higher...that is what should happen. Otherwise, they are called "upsets." Pre-season polls typically have us lower than our finish....so I would call us underrated?

I'm not sure what you are referring to. The Auburn SECCG was much closer than the score appears. Georgia was a Mauk brain explosion. Alabama was better than us in almost every way last season, the should have beat us. I was happy with the fact that we got it back to single digits in the 2nd half.

Indiana was an inexcusable loss. Is that your basis for "overrated"?

Eh, that game was so lopsided because Mauk had the worst game of his career. We held Chubb to less than four yards a carry and Georgia as a whole to below that. It isn't like we gave up 400 rushing yards to a team that wasn't even trying to throw the ball.

All true. Georgia kicked the crap out of Missouri. I actually like Georgia.

But sweet baby jesus on a sunday morning, please stop losing to a down South Carolina team and a very bad Florida team. How on earth does Georgia lose to a Florida team that Mizzou beat by nearly 29 points?

When you all take care of your own business, you can start casting stones. Until then, someone else is gonna keep winning the East.

Florida attempted six passes for 27 yards against Georgia, but Jones and Taylor ran 50 times for 389 yards. Florida's offense threw passes on 6 of the 66 plays they ran. Florida ran the ball twelve less times against Mizzou (48) then they did against Georgia (60), but they gained 283 less rushing yards against Mizzou (135) then they did against Georgia (418).
