College marching band is awesome and anybody who has been part of one knows how tight knit it is.

Ferguson is not part of Missouri. I and most Missourians refuse to acknowledge Ferguson.

A couple of very recent band alumni passed away. I don't really know much more to the story than that.

ETA: from Tiger Rant

Two former trumpet players, both in their mid 20s, passed away the last couple weeks. Just wanted to share the kind gesture from Mizzou and celebrate the lives of those two trumpets who gave it everything the four years they were members of our beloved 325.

At this point Ferguson is more closely affiliated with East St. Louis, IL. It and it's residents no longer enjoy Missouri status.

Sorry for the losses, fellow Tigers. That's sad news on this, the eve of college football 2015.

I do not want to high jack this thread, but Ferguson is not that bad of a place. I have friends and co-workers that live in Ferguson. It is being defined by one event and the town/people that live there are much bigger than what the media has covered.

Zou-keeper, I wrote that it sarcastic jest. I know Ferguson really isn't that bad, I also have family in the area. A cousin was the music minister of a church there until recently. It's a mixed area with a great little historic district. The media chooses not to show those parts though. I feel bad for the good people who live there who are being overrun by thugs, many of whom don't reside there. The thugs are the ones I'd like to ship to ill-annoy. No offense intended.

My inlaws live in Florissant which, as you know, is right next door to Ferguson.

You're right...Ferguson, when compared to other bad areas of STL, wasn't a bad place.

But now Ferguson is infamous and in a lot of ways encouraged the downfall of their city. Sure, some residents disagreed with the riots, but that doesn't matter.

Who wants to move to Ferguson now? Who will want to move there in 10 or 20 years?

You know, I went to the Ferguson 4th of July celebration two years ago just before Mike Brown was shot and riots ruined the city.

Honest opinion: Ferguson was a powder keg primed to explode. Their 4th of July was the most anti-white blatant display of racism and trash that I've ever seen. We were actually alarmed by the amount of rude people who were there. One person looked us directly in the eyes and said, "You white, son...what the hell are you doing here?"

And he was right. They didn't want us there. It was clear as day. People were very confrontational, rude, ghetto, and unwelcoming.

We were there for about 30 minutes. We decided that we weren't welcome (simply for being white), and we went to the Florissant 4th of July celebration instead.

Florissant's 4th of July celebration (as you're aware) is only about 2 miles away. It's literally just down the road.

However, the difference was night and day. The Florissant celebration still had a solid mixture of black and white Americans, but everyone was getting along, everyone acted classy, the organized event was clean and traditional, children of all races were playing on playgrounds together without issue...overall it was an excellent mix of people with clear family values who wanted nothing to do with the ghetto people in Ferguson.

Whereas, the Ferguson people were blaring obnoxious rap music in the middle of the 4th of July celebration (sponsored by the city). People were drinking alcohol out of paper fricking bags. A 250 pound women wearing nothing but tight shorts (understatement) and a white lace bra that showed her nipples was walking around with four or five little kids, and a rap battle was occurring on the main stage.

Call me racist. Sorry I don't want to deal with that bullshite on 4th of July. Sorry I don't want my children to see adults (let alone obese adults) wearing see thru bras. Sorry I don't want my children to be around highly inappropriate rap music and rap battles. Sorry I don't want my children's highlight to be the drunk men insulting white people as they walk into the city park.

Make no mistake, zou_keeper...Ferguson is a shite hole. I don't care if there are cool places to visit like the brewery (which I've been to several times). Overall Ferguson is an anti-white anti-American hell hole. And now that the riots have occurred...the city will only get worse.

No thanks.
