Could not figure out why sec only had 10 teams bowling. I thought Missouri was qualified to play in one also. Then saw headline it had turned down Indy bowl but no reason in the article.

With a new coach and chance for additional practices, why did Missouri turn down an invite? Also did the conference office frown down on lost of additional revenue?

Cost SEC money. Take it out of their share

They probably wanted to focus on life after Pinkel and recruiting rather than practice for a lame-duck bowl game and finish 5-8.

Also, it just occurred to me that "we beat X bowl teams" as an arguing point no longer holds water if one of those bowl teams did finish 5-8.

Because we have some self respect. We are not Arkansas.

Our team sucked donkey balls. They did not deserve a bowl, so they decided not to accept. They made the right choice.

It was an awful season and everyone from the players to the coaches to the fans wanted to close the book on it. Good riddance and thank God it's over.

KC was it a player's decision or university administration?

I do agree looking back probably was the best decision. Imagine the four month season seemed like it took four years to play

I understand the honorable point of not feeling you deserved a bowl, that is respected.

Just confused at the decision anyway, the lost practice days alone. It can be a big deal for the freshmen and inexperienced players.

Tough call!

That is a shitty thing to do, Yankees. Go play your bowl game and bring us the cash. We're sharing with your punk asses.

Get thee to a bowl game!

Administration.

If you thought the season was a shite show, imagine a bowl game with a coaching staff about to be blown up.

The decision was for the best.

So will the league send our bowl game cut by Direct Deposit or with one of those big monster checks?

You would think SEC would have made them go, lost revenue for conference is not good. Share should come out of their allotment

A team who turns down a bowl should have their share of the big payday in the spring reduced by the amount that they would have added by going to that bowl.

Good suggestion. Maybe you can get it implemented for next year.

Thread started by an LSU fan, but take a shot at Arkansas when they have never taken a 5 win bowl game.

This.

What kind of effort do you think the assistants would make to win the bowl? As soon as Odom was hired, he literally stated who he was retaining and who was going to hit the frickin' road (he's only keeping 2 or 3 assistants). I would rather have Odom hitting the recruiting trails hard.

Extra bowl practices do you no good if you don't have a coaching staff to run them, or the new system you will be running even in place yet.

Our time was better spent recruiting and filling out the new staff.

The SEC was aware of our decision, they had no problem with it. We'll receive our full bowl share.

This move to avoid working appears to be more of Missouri's Bolsheviks running the asylum?

Just like each of those little tyrant pinko proletariats who demand that we pay for all their shite while they sit around smoking bongs and writing shitty poetry, you ruffian commies to want a share of payout to which you refuse to contribute.

Mizzou is in BAD need of a McCarthy-style cleansing.
