Perhaps it's focus is getting more folks to womens hoops, softball etc.

BLITZ allows you to attend any home, regular season, ticketed sporting event – football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball.

Why didn't they throw in softball

There were aprox. 70 home regular season games in the 4 sports inc. in the Blitz. $5.14 a ticket if you go to every home game in the 4 sports.

With MSU not located in a large city, the 60 mile radius would make sense for the following reasons:

Midweek baseball games. We get weekend crowds but the middle week games are never going to get big crowds since Starkville is a small town. For instance, if you are LSU, you are in a big city and 2 hours before the game you might say "Hey, wanna go to the game tonight?" You can't do that if you live in Jackson etc because by the time you get off work, it's a 2 and 1/2 hour drive. But if you live within 45 minutes, a subscription might entice you to go off the fly.

Tupelo is just outside of the 60 mile radius.

You're pretty much cutting everyone off between Verona and Shannon.

...and that might be on purpose.

FWIW LSU is doing a very similar ticket program for Recent Graduates.

As it relates to college towns, BR is one of the biggest.

I think this idea works in certain places. I could see state benefiting from something like this

Agree. There's not a lot within 60 miles of Starkville. It's a good deal for an area that doesn't have a ton of industry.

I like LSU's version as well. I have voiced for awhile that they need to make it easier and attractive for the post grads to come to games. I know of several that just couldnt afford season tickets right out of college and then just got in the habit of staying at home and not coming to the games. I think once we add an upper deck and we have some cheap seats this would be a great idea for us as well.

I input my Tupelo 38801 zip code on the Blitz site and it said you're eligible.

Hypothetically. If I wanted to try and circumvent the 60 mile rule. I would change the address on one of my seldom used credit cards to my parents address(well within the 60 miles). Go to paperless billing to receive my bill by email. Pay bill and Blitz on.

I like the idea and it's cool but it sounds really desperate. I just don't see how the university will be making money with that concept

It gets people from Tupelo to drive down for basketball games on Wed and Thurs nights .. I'd like to see how it pays off for them in the end... We might want to implement something like this in January... You guys that went to college in Metro areas just don't get how badly high school sports can cut into basketball ticket sales in Oxford and Starkville... Especially on weeknights.

They will generate revenue off of this. It might not be much, but it's still money that they wouldn't have gotten to begin with. $$$$ That's what it's all about in college athletics these days, and it makes it easier on your average fan.

Soooo does the fan have to sign a contract? What if they don't pay? Does the university go after them?
