Mangum now at .423 on the season. He leads the SEC in average as A&M's Boomer White goes 0 of 3, now at .410

Just going to assume White's got 50ish more ABs than Mangum

Not to take away from what a freshman has done. Impressive regardless

White also got to hit against non-sec competition. Most batting averages fall through the year because SEC competition.

This kid just jumped his average 20 basis points in one night after 50 games played this year..... and y'all are going to argue about ABs? And he's a true freshman, come on guys.

Is he related to John Mangum, Bama DB back in the late 70's, early 80's? I know that he had a son or nephew that played football for MSU a few years ago.

That is his dad. He was to follow in his dad's foot steps and commit to Alabama but had a change or heart and committed to State.

Maybe he has, but Mangum has started every SEC game this season and not only is hitting over .400 for the season he has hit over .400 in his 28 sec games. Impressive however you want to look at it.

I did look at the stats last night and Boomer has fifty more at bats than Jake. They are both impressive. Boomer has a higher SEC batting avert than non SEC

Boomer is 3-3 tonight with a homer, double, and a single. He's not giving up the batting title easily.

Mangum is 1 for 3 tonight so far. They just intentionally walked him.
