So to chime in on all the situation with LSU and Miles, I've heard a lot of you say that it would not be advantageous to fire him now due to his contract. While I obviously don't know specifics about his contract, it's still obvious that Miles is hurting the LSU program with his old outdated ways of thinking, especially on offense.

If I was LSU, why not just give Miles an honorary head coach position, some sort of Head Coach Emeritus position, similar to what UT gave Pat Summit at the end of her career and life, or similar to what Steve Spurrier is now at UF. Let him do some good for the university, he could fundraise, go to booster events and represent LSU in a positive manner, while letting Orgeron actually run the LSU football team on an interim basis.

Doing that, LSU could give Orgeron a trial run. They could keep him if he does well and they are unable to get Herman, Fisher, Kiffin or Kelly. If they do get one of those candidates than of course he's gone. Then at the end of the season Miles can either resign, retire or be fired. Who knows, if he does a really good job just keep him on in the Steve Spurrier type role, as a representative to the university. In the very least though it helps with not ending the contract early while still getting him out of the football program. It would most likely help to eliminate bad publicity for the university as well.

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Yes. LSU should work very hard to keep Miles. He's a great recruiter. He's a great family man. He cares for his players and the players love him. He's a great ambassador for the University and he is great for college football.

Make him Coach Emeritus. Leave him in charge of Recruiting. Hire a new Head Coach to be in charge of all football operations, including game days and practice. On game day, put Coach Emeritus in the Press Box with a headphones with no microphone. Make him stay there during games. Do the same with practices. Let him finish his contract in this manner.

Great idea.

Haha recruiting wouldn't work as there would be differences in what players they would want. With that said though, I think it's a good idea. Miles is going to get his money anyway, why not make him at least earn it instead of just giving it to him?

Plus again he has always come to me as a genuinely good guy, a guy you would want representing your university. Just change how he represents it the rest of the season. I think it would work for both sides.

Just keep Miles far away from anything to do with football operations, such as planning and coaching. That's probably what's best for LSU.

Other than that, Coach Miles can retain his Coach Emeritus position until he retires.

I forgot to add one thing: Coach Emeritus Miles should not be allowed to make any player personnel decisions.
