My wife is currently undergoing chemo for breast cancer. Worldwide, 7.6 MILLION people die of cancer each year. Please don't think me heartless if I can't work up too much emotional concern for your cat.
Edit: Maybe this came across as too harsh. I just don't understand why the tragic deaths of chimps and tigers can get so much national attention, but the everyday death of tens of thousands of people from cancer so easily becomes so emotionally mundane.

I hope your wife gets well very soon. That said, sometimes it's best to be silent.

Prayers for you and your wife. My sympathy isn't limited to one or the other.

It sucks when anything dies an untimely death. I hurt for your wife, every person that has it, and every animal that does. For me it's not that the animal is more important, I just think it matters too.

I dont think the cancer ever went away. It says it spread.

Of course it matters too. But there is something wrong when the death of a chimp or a lion or a tiger can rise our emotions to a boil, but the yearly deaths of 7.6 million people becomes business as usual.

Breast cancer runs rampant thru my family (mom, aunts, cousins, etc) and every year I go for the mammo I've come to expect it's going to be my turn. It hasn't happened yet but I feel almost certain it will. God bless your wife, hopes and prayers the chemo works and you two get to live a long happy life together.

Your wife is important to you and Mike is important to the LSU family. Regardless of who is afflicted, it is a horrible disease and it needs to be stopped. I understand why you said what you did, but mike means a lot to us. Prayers for your wife
