Asked former Oregon HC Mike Bellotti if he thinks #Huskers is still a top coaching job. He said no because they have fired their last 3 HCs.

Good news for Tennessee fans. If they fire Butch, they will only have fired their last two coaches. Still a top job.

How else do destination jobs get rid of coaches who can't cut it?

Should they all wait for them to retire?

Exactly. How many coaches retire on good terms these days?

Keep Lyle for another 15 years. Then he can retire. And your honor is intact.

other than Saban, all other sec coaches can face dismissal.

It's the nature of the beast these days.

but I wouldn't be upset to make 4 to 5 million a year and get paid a few million to leave.

that's the problem,we are making these dudes retirement rich early on and expect them to give a crap when we give them millions to leave.

Good thing VOLS is a vastly superior job to Nebraska.

Come home, Jon

If Jon does not come home

Come home, Scott

If Scott does not come home

Come home, Tamaurice

If Tamaurice does not come home

Come back, Phil

frick you Mike Bellotti. Multimillion dollar salaries come with a lot of expectations and scrutiny. Nobody bats an eye when a business fires a failing employee, even executives. People get all teary eyed and emotional over coaches, it baffles me.

It's too early to tell for sure, but if I had to predict, I would say that these coaches will leave on their own terms:

1. Saban
2. Smart
3. Mason
4. Stoops
5. Mullen
6. Sumlim

Saban will retire. Smart will be successful and stay a long time. When Saban retires, Smart will become the top coach in the conference and will win a NC. Mason will continue to win enough games at Vandy to stay as long as he wants. Same for Stoops...his stint at Kentucky is starting to mirror Rich Brooks. He can put together a few 7-8 win seasons and then move on. Mullen also will move on his own terms. And I think Sumlin will be sharp enough to get out one step ahead of the posse.

Everyone else gets fired at some point.

Technically Fran was in between those three and Fran left Bama for the greener pastures of College Station.

It didn't work out the way they all planned.

So Kiffin was really their savior after all? He broke the run....is the one out of 5 past HCs that wasn't either fired or forced into retirement, going back to Dickey who "voluntarily" left a UT program he built into a top 10 national program, to take over his alma mater at Florida...

Oklahoma had fired 3 coaches in a row before Bob Stoops nutted up and accepted the job. Don't be such a fricking pussy Mike.

Jesus....how many coaches did Bama fire before Saban got there?

All BS aside, Tenn is a great destination. Tradition, facilities, recruiting base. Just need the right guy.
