Auburn fans and writers are throwing in the towel, basically conceding the Bama game. Some will rally by next week and manage a half-hearted "War Eagle", but most don't believe they'll be competitive after losing to Georgia.

Bama fans are dreaming about how they'll roll through the playoffs after easily dispatching the rest of their SEC schedule. Auburn got exposed, the SEC East champion will be punchless, they watched all the other undefeated contenders lose this weekend and now it's being debated whether they'd beat some of the lesser talented NFL teams.

Message boards are usually a pretty good indicator of how complacent or determined a team will be. Given two weeks to get over the Georgia loss, Auburn will be pissed off. Given two weeks of national media praise as one of the best teams ever, Alabama will be cocky, despite Saban's best efforts. For a rivalry game, especially considering that Auburn has a defense that could keep it close, that's the recipe for an upset.

Auburn still has Sean White at QB. I'm not too high on their chances

You seriously think a Nick Saban coached Alabama team is going to be too cocky about playing Auburn?

That's kind of ridiculous.

The debate that any college team could compete with an NFL team is just asinine

You don't know how wrong you are. The leadership and hunger on this team is unmatched. They aren't singing their own praises.

This may depend on your definition of "Decent".

Probably not. You realize he's been injured for 3 weeks right?

Auburn might be pissed off, but there's a good chance they'll be pissed on by Alabama.

We've been hearing this in some form or fashion for almost 8 years now.

Yep, he really does have a tendency to let his team get cocky and lose to lesser teams all the time.

Auburn's D will be competitive as hell. That offense will get drilled. If the D can hang in there it won't be a slaughter but Bama will find a way to score and Auburn will not.

SW injured, Pettway injured, Johnson is still not even close to 100% at RB. Sorry to bust your bubble but we do not have the offensive horses to help our defense stay off the field to rest up.

No matter how much Saban will try to get the team to understand they can get beaten any Saturday some kids will always think they can party all week and just turn it on at game time.
It usually shows by the play of the defense. When they start getting pushed around and tired. It's a sign the team has been overconfident.
Coaches can get complacent too. I'm not worried about Saban but it usually starts with the fans. Trickles down from there.

On UGA boards? Kirby must miss the talent and coaches he left behind. Or is it media voodoo trying to keep things competitive?

Of course they have a chance. That said, I'm not counting on it. Auburn plays its best when they can ruin Bama's season. While this bunch doesn't want to lose, a loss to Auburn doesn't remove Bama's overall season goals of SEC and National Championship. If Auburn had come back and beaten UGA this past weekend in some crazy finish, I would have been willing to bet the farm on Auburn winning the Iron Bowl straight up.
