I'm sure it's a technological marvel and all, but if I'm being honest it's pretty ugly. I don't like the outside design and the circle in the ceiling is just kind of weird.

Can't decide if I like the roof/video board configuration or not. Definitely don't like the way the sun comes thru and puts a round spot on the field. Reminds me of the old stadium in Dallas before Jerry World was built. Going to the Tech-Tennessee game so will reserve final judgement after that.

Of course, you don't have to deal with Entergy.
Relay equipment manufacturer blames Entergy for Super Bowl blackout
quote:
The switchgear's manufacturer, S&C Electric Co., said that its experts had concluded the outage was "a result of the electric load current exceeding the trip setting for the switchgear relay as set by the system operators."
"Based on the onsite testing, we have determined that if higher settings had been applied, the equipment would not have disconnected the power," said Michael J.S. Edmonds, vice president of strategic solutions for the company. "S&C continues to work with all those involved to get the system back online, and our customers can continue to rely on the quality and performance of our products."
quote:
When pressed, Rice said the utility was not prepared to label the equipment as faulty, but said Entergy "installed the device as we received it."

Saints fans are so pissy that Atlanta has an awesome stadium
Let's tone that down a bit. The one thing that is supposed to make the stadium stand out won't be working for the foreseeable future. It's not like it's completely finished.

Still can't believe they wasted all this money to tear down their dome and make a new one. Such much good could have been done with those funds.

building this stadium will bring a lot of money to the city with Super Bowls, Final Fours, CFP Playoffs, etc

The opening a__hole is one heck of a design. Either have a fully opening roof or don't.

That jumbo board at the top is in such a circle that you can barely see anything. That is pretty weak as well as nice try in copying the Superdome on putting a shrine to the state high school athletic association

You think that is only something the Superdome has?

The only reason the roof wont be open is that it needs 40 days of testing before it can receive occupancy clearance. There are not enough free days before the first game to get this clearance. Testing will continue between games. The roof is functional just has to complete testing. I do agree I am not a fan of the pinhole effect (great idea but should have made it an even larger opening)

Houston's stadium opened over 17 years ago and we still get Super Bowls, Final Fours, etc. Georgia Dome was 8 years older. I fully expect to get another SB by 2025 with maybe small to medium renovations.
I'm not saying those things aren't benefits to a city, but Atl could have had those without building the new stadium.

The seats being red makes it look too much like the inside of the Georgia Dome.
Should have been black IMO.

Atlanta wouldn't have gotten an MLS team without building a new stadium. Also, the new stadium will probably be one of the premier locations for international games over the next 20 years.

They would never have gotten another Super Bowl at the Georgia Dome.

Maybe it's just the pictures, but the inside doesn't look good at all imo. Looks kind of cramped.
