Yes they do. Butthurt Aggie fans. They want so bad to be dominant over another team like Texas has been to them for years and years. When they realize that it's just not in their nature, the suicide thoughts start. They will never dominate LSU in anything. Ever. And they know it.

Anything ever huh?

I think A&M was the #1 seed in that CWS. Todd Walker grand slam capped a big LSU rally to beat Aggie.

Re the 89 series, there is a great article in The Advocate today on it. One thing that really stands out is how Skip motivated the team to win the last game. He went through the entire LSU/aggie lineup, telling each player that his aggie opponent was so much better than he was, really blowing the aggies. Then, he told them that when it came time to switch dugouts before the game...they did that back then....he wanted the LSU players to get as close as possible, in the face of each aggie. Telling his players that LSU did not have to beat the aggies, the aggies, facing so much pressure, would beat themselves. And as the players crossed the field together, each LSU player got right in the face of an aggie, stared right into his eyes. Garrity said he could tell then that the aggies would fold. Coach Davis, pitching coach, said it was the best motivational coaching move he's ever seen.

That sounds like a whole boat load of nonsense.

Farmer1906, the next time you see Ben McDonald announcing a game over there, ask him. He's been talking about this story, and several others, all wk in promoting the game locally. There were direct quotes from several players on the team that year, so it's doubtful that they are all making it up. And you obviously do not know Skip Bertman at all. He's famous for using motivational tools such as this.

I'm not saying some version of that didn't happen. It just seems a little romanticized.

I just looked it up--you're right. Big win for LSU then, I suppose (on the way to the CWS title). I guess after LSU's big rally, A&M must have just been really drained and lost the very next game too and was eliminated.
