Now half the shitty arse coaches you've all hired after firing your decent ones make that.
Member when you all said Saban wouldn't coach more than three or four years and then ditch bama?
Now he is in his 11th season and may become the second longest coach at alabama ever.

From what I remember, the sports shows said (the morning after he was hired) "it's not a matter of if, but when Saban wins a NC."
Maybe some of the less intelligent people focused on his salary, but I recall the general consensus being "oh shite."

You seriously don't remember these posts at all? For his first few years, they were constant. And it wasn't just Fringe crazies.

That may have been the consensus when no Bama fans were present but the comments directed at Bama fans were that we overpayed for an NFL failure and a liar, Bama was a has been and we were foolish for thinking we'd ever be a dominant program again, and Saban would bolt at the first opportunity. It's understandable, that's the nature of sports fans, but there was absolutely a shite ton of that being said, Hell, this very forum exists because of it.

I remember when LSU paid him $1 million and everyone thought they were crazy
I blame Saban for the increase in tickets and fees for all schools.
It's not a sustainable model though.
Eventually colleges are walking a fine line between cost of attendance for families who support SEC programs and at some point there will be a breaking point.

Maybe not on here but my brother moved to NOLA about the time Saban took over at Alabama and he had LSU co-workers and business associates that told him how bad the Sabans hated Tuscaloosa and desperately wanted to go back to LSU. All said with a straight face. My brother would politely listen and just sort of agree that it's possible just to avoid an argument. Calling out the lunacy would have been bad for business for him so he bit his tongue a lot early in Saban's Alabama coaching tenure.

You're grouping people together (typical bamer). We fired our shite coach and got someone better (something Bama had to spend along time on before they got saban)
