What are the chances Mark Stoops is gone after a loss to a fiery NMSU team coming off a win against in-state rival UNM?

Spread is at 18.5.

I read that his buyout is something like 12 million dollars. I don't think Kentucky will spring for that.

I was surprised to see that NMSU beat New Mexico last week. I remember seeing New Mexico take Arizona deep in a bowl game early in bowl season last year and the looked pretty solid while NMSU has struggled for a while now.

Yep. Last year they only lost by 7 to AZ. And Martin's record at NMSU is something like 20% wins over four years..terrible. Maybe he turns it around this year.

No. It is football at Kentucky. As long as Stoops (or any other football coach) doesn't run over a basketball player with his car on campus, the school could care less. Football at Kentucky is the equivalent of hockey at Hawaii.

They may have no choice. It looks like they have quit on him

Totally. We'll name Calipari as interim and I heard Willie Cauley-Stein has some eligibility left.

Y'all fricked.

It's not like UK will make a splash hire in the middle of the season. I'd save $12 million buyout and wait until this season is over.

I'd be happy to just be good at one sport if I was Kentucky. It could be worse. They could be Ole Miss.

I think if Barnhart even considers it (and that's a toss up, sadly), it won't be until later in the season. I believe the buyout drops a couple million at that point.

IF he is let go and buyout paid, isnt Art Briles the perfect candidate?

great job to get his name back out there. place that his system could work

hes a simple guy with a country draw and attitude. the Kentucky peeps would love it

Not trolling, 100% believe Briles will go there IF they buy out Stoops

They could just move him and not fire him to avoid buyout trigger.

As an SEC fan, I'd love to see that hire. Not sure what UK folks think about it though...

Someone sent our DC a bag of dicks today. LINK /

Also, I recognize I'm responding to the wrong person for this, but should I assume Hawaii gets 60k for hockey? Get the frick out of here with the idea UK fans don't care.

No Art Briles. It's a non-starter. Even if the fans were behind that (and I don't think that's the case), we've got an AD who would never consider it.

Nope, if you spend time around UK sports there is a very unspoken religious angle and Briles would never pass the smell test. If Briles was a possibility UK would have already hired Petrino and they passed.
