I live in the Valdosta, GA area. The past three weeks this community has been stunned by a 17 yr old from Valdosta HS who went missing during a duck hunting trip. Many agencies were involved in searching for him including the Search and Rescue squadron from Moody AFB. After two weeks of searching the 400 acre "pond", they found James Eunice's body. He was a strong Christian example for his classmates, and teammates on both the football and baseball teams. He lived with such a sense of urgency and left a huge impact here. Most people live an entire life time and don't make the impact that James made in 17 years.
As some of you know, UGA had been recruiting Jay Rome and Malcom Mitchell from VHS. While down here on a recruiting trip James had talked with CMR about walking on to the football team.
At James' funeral yesterday Rome and Mitchell came up to speak with a box and a letter from CMR. At the end of the letter he wrote "Oh yeah James made the team!" At that point Rome and Mitchell pulled a UGA jersey with James' number 23 on it. He wrote:
"James Eunice became apart of the UGA football team today! Now what a dream team. RIP to such a wonderful young man James Eunice!"
I am a LSU fan forever, but CMR won my respect for sure yesterday!! Class act!! Rest In Peace James!

say what you want about him, but you can't say he is not a good person.

He had waders on in the boat. I haven't heard officially yet. I would guess that he stood up and lost his balance and fell out. Waders filled up and he couldn't get them off. It is so sad cause it could've been prevented. My husband duck hunts and he wears the wader belt for that very reason and doesn't wear his waders in a boat. You just can't get them off once you go over cause of the suction.

I found this link:
Missing teen found...
VALDOSTA - The Valdosta (Ga.) Times is reporting that James Eunice's body was located this morning around 8 a.m.
Eunice, a former Sumter resident, went missing on Jan. 15 while on a duck hunting trip from a boat on Ocean Pond. Reports indicated that Eunice's 17-year-old friend got out of the boat and was left on the bank. Eunice went out alone and continued to duck hunt.
The 17-year-old friend eventually lost sight of Eunice.
Eunice played soccer as a freshman at Covenant Central, a team of home-schooled students in Sumter. He is the son of Col. John L. Eunice, who retired from Shaw Air Force Base in 2008.
The family remains on the site along with rescue teams as they prepare to draw this two week search to a close. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
The Times has been informed that the family will release a statement later today.

I knew about James through my girlfriend. Her favorite Chemistry professor at the college we go to was a first cousin of James and was constantly asking for our prayers. Really tragic story, he sounded like one hell of a kid. Glad to hear he had such an impact. Richt simply reacted like all us UGA fans knew he would, hence he has been given the reprieve that he has these past couple of years.
Rest In Peace James! Go Dawgs!

If you want to know more about James Eunice or the impact he had there is a facebook page called "Come Home Safe James Eunice." Obviously, it was created in the early stages of the search. Right now it has over 8,000 followers. Most coming in the first couple weeks and by hearing about what a remarkable person he was. This is a lesson in what an impact one person can make. Makes me wonder.....what will my impact be? Continue to lift up this family in prayer.
