He scared

And lol at his attendance argument:

"Scoring will be down. You’re not going to see teams scoring as many points, and when it’s getting harder all the time to get fans to come to games, is that something that college football wants?"

I think its the point. To sort of turn football back into football, and not a track meet.

an offensive linemen doesn't need to be 3 yards down field on a pass play.

It's a good change.

Yup, especially when so many rules favor the offense. This is a step in the right direction to keep the scores from getting out of hand

There's already too many inelegable receiver down field calls as it is changing the yardage from 3 to 1 will just make it that much worse

Will Arkys ever forget that Malzahn left the "Natural State" Seem so bitter. Luckily you got a cheesehead, porkfeed boy to lead you to the promised land.
Why you care? Based on off season, Arky and Tenn will be in the SEC Championship game anyway. Just lay back and watch Bert work his magic

Kind of like how the post-steroid era of baseball has kicked so much arse

Just what we need, more oversight, more rules, more flags.

Were there attendance issues before the widespread use of the HUNH/spread offenses?

I do realize that the real reason for the downturn in attendance is rising ticket prices and the advent of HD television

If it changes from 3 to 1 yard, then the OL will now go down the field 3 yards as the original rule was intended. There were too many plays where OL were 5 yards down the field and flags weren't being thrown. There is too much going on in a play for the refs to see exactly how far down the field an OL is unless they are going to put more on the field or look from a booth.

just enforce the current rule.

Why pass a new rule when the current rule isn't enforced? Sort of a liberal dem solution to life

Yup, Auburn and other option teams abused the rule way too much

I think it's unnecessary. They just need to call it when OL-men are downfield. Changing it to 1 yard from 3 won't matter if it's never called - or not called CONSISTANTLY, Bama.

Plus, one yard is ridiculous, a good pancake block will bring you two yards out just falling on top the guy.

There's too much shite going on sometimes for the refs to catch it. This will make it more obvious, and therefore easier to enforce

His comments are nothing more than the usual coach's whine when they take away his favorite toy.
