Muschamps fate was officially sealed once the home blowout loss to Mizzou occurred. Something drastically changed with Auburn during the same timeframe until now.

Now Muschamp has officially been let go and Gus just turned in his worse offensive scoring production of his career.

Distractions?

Coincidence?

Call me a conspiracy theorist but this is the exact type of coach Foley and Machen will be seeking. The speed at which he resurrected Auburn raised everyone's eyebrows.

Why would he leave Auburn for Florida? Seems kind of like slightly downward-lateral move to me

Far better recruiting base
Bigger fanbase and alumni support (more money)
More media exposure
Easier divisional track to the playoff
Don't share a state with Saban, or any SEC team for that matter

Do The Swamp's elevators and game clocks work?

If so, add that to the list.

To get more money from Auburn to stay. IMO, this is a common agent tactic.

The recruiting grounds in Florida are deep and plentiful. Recruiting to Florida is an easy sell. Once you get Florida revived it is easy to expand that recruiting base to other states and get on an even recruiting level as Bama.

All of that is true Genro, but is UF that much of a better job to lure him away from Au?, I don't think he will leave Au. Plus, I don't think Gus is a fit for UF.

Impossible. I've read on the SECr that all of the DC's in the SEC have figured out Gus's gimmicky, high school offense and he won't even win a game next year. So don't know why UF would want him.

hmmm they are talking but I can guarantee his agent will leverage the coaching search at UF to get SOMETHING for malz

even if it's just good will from our AD for being loyal all the way up to a pay raise.

he won't leave, but its his agents job to flirt.

Well that's a good reason for him to make the move now, while he still can. It will give him an excuse for a few more years while he is getting paid top dollars.

I mean, I'm not against getting the rumor mill going, fair is fair, but there is no evidence that UF is interested in Gus and no evidence Gus would move to UF.

In fact, there is nothing even hinting at it, really. So as long as we're all on the same page, let the trollfest commence.

I'll believe it has wheels when Gus goes gator hunting in Florida.

I think this former AU HC would be a great fit for UF

It might be perceived that way. I think recruiting to Florida is an easier sell in some cases especially Florida talent.

Most likely

Disagree, I think he could be a good fit with all the skilled players and OL he could pull in from FL alone. I also think they can get highly talented defensive players just as they always have.

Bingo. Florida is the top job in CFB rivaled only by maybe Texas and SoCal. Florida is probably better though because the proximity to other southern recruiting hotbeds on top of Fla.
