Like others have said, the NJCAA is a different entity than the NCAA and doesn't adhere to the same rules (pretty silly if you ask me). This is from a similar case:

quote:

Diagne's Senegal-based advisors convinced him to enter his name into the NBA without realizing the the National Junior College Athletic Association's rules regarding early entries into the draft differ from the NCAA's rules. The NCAA allows underclassmen to retain their eligibility if they enter the NBA draft as long as they do not sign with an agent.

The NJCAA's rules state that once a player enters the NBA draft, he's no longer eligible to play at the junior college level.

That left Diagne with four options. Stay in the draft and pursue his professional options. Pay his own way at a junior college and sit out the 2016-17 season. Do the same at ann NCAA Division I school. Or play right away at a Division II or NAIA school.

@GoodmanESPN: Malik Newman camp is split on him transferring or remaining at Mississippi State, sources told ESPN.

His dad wants him to get paid here in MS not get paid in Europe. Don't blame him wanting his son close.

No... Ole Miss actually has runners now and some of our boosters are getting on board with basketball recruiting .. The basketball recruiting budget is still way behind but the next round of Network $ will help bolster that... it'll be an uphill climb for sure though.. So no MSU fans have ever heard a number from someone who knows ?

Oh ok. Well that won't be in place to save Kennedy's job but if you guys make a good hire I think you could be pretty decent.

He is in no danger of getting fired. Mullen is on a hotter seat than AK.

I just think he misses the tourney the next two years and gets fired after that.

His tourney appearances were more due to the SEC being down as a whole. Now that other school's are rebounding I think he is going to get left behind.

We can put this to rest now:
quote:

"There is no talk of going juco or transferring," said Webster with a laugh. "He is at Mississippi State and we haven't discussed anything about leaving and that is not a concern. We heard a lot of everything yesterday and today with a lot of rumors and even heard (playing basketball) overseas. But he is a Bulldog and I don’t think they gave away his scholarship."

You are undervaluing AK majorly.

What state the most racism in it's history? Which school has the biggest black eye from that era? What race is normally the vast majority of people playing basketball?

See how this is a huge hindrance for OM in the basketball landscape? Why do you think AK has to take flawed players every year and put the puzzle together? He finds a way to make it work but no one else could have done what he has done over the last decade.

So you think he would not get fired after that or you think he makes the tourney in the next two years?

I don't know this year it will be interesting to see how we play with the Miami transfer Burnett playing and our grad transfer from New Mexico that has 2 years. The year after that we will add the 7 footer from Drake to the court. We could be a strong team if we could add around that.

I've never really known specifics about the price of blue chips in basketball because OM has never been in on big time basketball prospects... We might start in the near future though... TIA

Howland's contract averaged out at $2.05 million a year over 4 years. Kennedy's latest contract is for $1.925 million a year, so it appears the difference between a roster full of blue chips and the Ole Miss roster is about $125K per year.

I can't ever see Kennedy getting a player that Howland wants. But you can probably get the 3*s we pass over because we recruit more nationally now.

Just looked at yalls class, man, it's pretty terrible but somehow only 10th in SEC.

I think that's a little over the top. Ole Miss's new facility is going to improve recruiting.

I'm optimistic but time will tell. He couldn't even get in the game w/ Weatherspoon when we had Ray.

"Ever" is a strong word... A kid could be down to Ole Miss and MSU and just have a better visit weekend to Oxford and come our way.. Not to mention his handler could look at the rosters and see he'll get more minutes and shots ... Not to mention family ties, girlfriends or mom's comfort level... There's a lot to consider.

That being said, we're a looooong way away from recruiting at MSU's current level

This. Recruiting is on a new level with the Arena opening. Not saying it is amazing but the talent should be better across the board. He is close every year. Odds are he gets in based off his past record in the next 2 years.

Honestly at the moment it doesn't seem like we are going after the same recruits really.

Plus Kennedy relies very heavily on transfers.

It seems like most of your talent comes from transfers.
