I'm remembering the Mississippi River floods of 1993. Iowa became another of Minnesota's lakes. Iowa State came to Rice Stadium shortly after that. The MOB (Marching Owl Band) did their tribute to Iowa and the devastating floods... The band marched out... Set up huge folded pieces of cardboard, transforming the field into what looked like floodwaters that were exposing only the roofs of homes... In sailed three boats, the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria... Columbus stepped out and declared the place Lake Iowa... The Iowa State people were going ballistic... Can you imagine if they did that today??? It would be the lead story on every single news channel... It would be international news. SC will recover. This is just a Fricking Football Game. Glad it's moving to BR that's for sure.
