"Basically we lost the game because our first baseman couldn't keep his foot on the bag, on a routine play." #LSU Paul Mainieri

Then the first basemen RTed this:
Coaches blaming players for a L is the blame game that should never be played. Especially in the media, that crap can get ugly, quick.

Cohen might be an a-hole but at least he doesn't throw his players under the bus. Geez. And btw, you lost because you scored only 1 run, not because one error.

I thought the error was on the throw; not the 1st baseman.

NM - just looked it up. It was a bad throw, though.

We agree. Cohen is a huge count and Paul is an arse.

This is correct... He threw Polk's players under the bus constantly his first two seasons in Starkville though.

I've never hated any coach at LSU, but I've always hated CPM. Hopefully everyone will start to see what a joke he is.

So he called out players post-game? Would love to see some quotes.

Pretty shitty of PM. I think the fact we were unable to score more than 1 fricking run is a much bigger concern then an error by the 1st baseman.

Exactly. Even if everything goes smooth on that play, its only a 1-1 game. We weren't exactly lighting the world on fire with our bats last night (credit to Sexton who pitched his arse off).

Sexton pitched great. But according to your coach, he "was throwing junk all night + Tigers just couldn't hit it. Not hard, anyway."

sheesh, didn't see that one. But it is usually up to the coaches to make in-game adjustments, even for things as obscure as hitting approach not like Sexton was just gonna stop what was working for him.

LSU athletics are in disarray, but, if you try to speak truth to power over at the Rant, the Rant Gestapo throws you into Ban Land.

Things could get ugly if LSU football loses a few games next season.

As a player, I'd definitely prefer the Miles' speak of always absolving players of blame in the public eye. However, as a fan, I prefer CPM's blunt honesty. He tells it like it is. He doesn't shove "he played pretty good" down your throat after one of the most anemic passing attacks in the history of CFB. Why even waste everyone's time if you're just gonna get up there and throw out BS?

While I agree, I think he could've been just as blunt by admitting the offense played like crap the entirety of the game.

Dick move Mainieri. Why not just bench him because calling him out publicly and playing him just adds to the pressure already.

Wasn't someone banned for this exact statement on The Rant?

Sounds like dude is about to spill the beans.

I wouldn't have any problem with a coach blaming me for a loss in the locker room and around the team. I'm harder on myself than anybody else could be. But saying that to the media is fricked.
