9-9 in sec since beg of last year. And not winning bowls nearly as much. A lot less to do with Saban than ppl think.

Ole miss seemed to find one so it can't be all that difficult.

From '80-89, LSU was 4-1 at Alabama.
From 1982-2007 LSU was 13-12-1 vs Alabama.
If you want to just jump right into the middle of the conversation, at least read a couple of the previous posts.

Thanks for clarifying. So LSU did not start contending after firing McClendon
We hired the Tom Herman of the day and he died in a plane crash a few months later...

That's terrible

you're trying too hard. Saban left 12 years ago

Even before Saban we owned Arkansas, so I wouldn't worry about it too much if i were you.

But since Saban left, they've slowly been reverting back normal.
How do you explain 2011?

What are you talking about? LSU won 3 SEC championships in the 80s after not winning any for all of the 70s.
Then LSU went through another drought in the 90s, and kept going through coaches looking for one who would win a championship, and then found Saban. After Saban left, Les Miles was winning championships at first, but when they dried up, he got canned.
Why are you acting like you don't understand this? If you can win the SEC, you have as good a shot as any to win the national championship - even with one loss. If Les Miles was losing to Alabama every year, but still winning conference and national championships, he would not have been canned.
It's not as complicated as you gumps want to make it seem.

LSU also didn't start putting real money into coaching salaries and A+ facilities until Saban got here.

Actually it started before Saban got to LSU.
The East upper deck opened for the fall of 2000. The administration building was built in 1995, and the indoor practice facility opened in 1990.
The issue was getting rid of all the ol' boys from the 80s that ran off Arnsparger. They wanted to run the AD on the cheap thinking minimizing expenses would maximize revenue. They were wrong. The TAF was formed in the late 80s, and really gained power in the 90s. It was through these efforts that we were able to attract Emmert and Saban.

Were it not for the period 2000-2007, LSU's all-time win/loss record against Bama would be down with the Mississippi schools. Full credit for those eight years because they definitely happened, but let's not pretend like they were some kind of "return to normalcy."

If the goal is to win the SEC West and Alabama routinely wins the West, it would make sense that the Alabama game is key.

O...
...K.
I'm not quite sure why you want to think they were.
Honestly, I'm not quite sure why you even bother thinking about LSU at all.
