This is 4 years in the making. In 2008 LSU had the National Championship Hangover. Some of the players had to grow up fast. In 2009, LSU decided to win and win now with a defense and no-frills offense. It worked for the most part, but there were some issues. It ended with a loss on a crappy field to an average team. In 2010, LSU added special teams dominance to the formula of good defense and pedestrian offence and just missed a BCS Bowl. In 2011, LSU added 2 fifth year quarterbacks to the mix and the offense is improved, but all the other facets have come together. This is a special team that went through some growing pains, recruited to its needs and is now the deepest team in college football. There are some 5* athletes as anointed by the recruiting services, but most of the guys here are just players. They're young and will be back next year.
Bottom line, not achieving their goals for the last few years got the leaders on this team to where they are now. This team will play you anyway you want and still beat you.
Geaux Tigers.

On paper, this team will be better next year.
But, will it have the intangibles? The hunger? Probably not.
This team is stocked full of every intangible you can imagine, including incredible resolve, tenacity, and focus. They are battle tested.
Next year, with Mett as QB and Claiborne likely gone, they will have all of the star power, but might not be as good as a "team" because they might not be as hungry or focused. They will still win 10-11 games and might compete for the SEC/National title, but it will not be a given, even though they might be more talented.
But, if any coach in America can bring them together as a "TEAM" and keep them hungry, it is Les Miles, so I like our chances. He just knows how to coach college kids.

I guarantee Mett can't wait to take the rains. He's itching for Ito bad he runs a bootleg the moment he ges in the game at Ole Miss when were already beating them by 50

Imagine if Miles had been dishonest like Saban or Meyer and kept Perrilloux on the team.
LSU would have at least one more NC
LSU would have at least one more NC

We would have been better, but I don't really see us winning it all in 2008 or 2009.
Well, maybe 2009. We would have likely beaten Bama at Bama (leading in the 4th quarter with Jefferson/Lee combo who were terrible), only lost to Florida by 10 (Jefferson was terrible), and would have beaten Ole Miss easily. So yeah, maybe in 2009, although we would have had to play Florida in the SEC Championship game with a healthy Tebow and that would have been a real challenge.
Just think, if Miles brings Perriloux back, Urban might have won the National Championship in 2009 and would have had 3 titles and would still be at Florida, Saban would have had ZERO titles, and the whole landscape of college football would be different today.
Interesting to think about.
