Bama still runs in between the tackles and most reasonable Tiger fans will tell you that DT is the weakest spot on the LSU defense. Bama's offensive line last year was weak and still racked up 250+ yards on the ground.
Bama's O-line is better this year and LSU hasn't closed the gap on the line of scrimmage on either side.
Most hoped Valentine would provide an impact player to the middle of the defense, but he has been a disappointment.
Everyone remembers Bama shutting down Leonard Fournette, but most forget Bama pushed LSU off the ball for 4 and 5 yards every play.
Henry and Drake both had great games.

So, including the Ole Miss game stats and considering that they have had a much more difficult schedule, how is it that Alabama's defense is ranked higher as a unit than LSU's D?

Bama is a stronger defense. We are better against a strong passing game, but Bama is built to stop a pro style offense and especially the run. But the game isn't about LSU's defense vs Bama's defense. It boils down to which team can stop the run better. I give the big edge to Bama until proven otherwise. We may have an advantage with Bama's freshman QB in an hostile environment, but Bama typically finds a way. Thats not a slight to LSU because we are a much improved team with Coach O, we just had a lot of ground to make up. Should be a great atmosphere and game.

Apparently Bama's defense was not very good the day they played Ole Miss. Or Arkansas.

LSU is better against a pass first defense whose run game does not have to be respected. They have ever very good pass rushers, good cover backers and a great secondary.
Alabama is good against the pass too, but they do have a tendency to give up some big plays - especially late in games protecting big leads.
However, I think any reasonable person would take Alabamas defense against a power team, and probably about even against a balanced spread team.

Or Arkansas.
Arkansas was down 42-17 late in the 3rd. And even then Allen's YPA was something like 8 YPA. He threw it 50 times.

Bama did give up 5 TDs to Ole Miss. LSU gave up 2.

One of those TDs against LSU was a complete gift after we fumbled inside the 10.

False, the best defense in college football is Alabama. It is what it is my man.

Pound for pound, Bama is better because of the front 7. They are more balanced because of that. However, I would take our secondary over anyone's, and I don't see how anyone can question the number of points this defense is giving up. They have been absolutely deadly in second halves.
The key for the LSU defense in this game is the LSU offense. They have to take some pressure off by sustaining some drives. By the middle of the 3rd last year, the D had no hope of slowing anything down. Despite the improvements and huge coaching upgrade, the same thing will happen again if the offense can't keep them off the field.

didn't they drop 43 on you guys?
Ole Miss was a different team then. Dont care what you say. They quit after Arkie.
And Arkie was so far down, they had to throw every down. Thats why these passing numbers a re skewed.
We get teams down so far that 2 things happen:
They have to pass every down of the 2nd half
Our backups play a lot.

Yeah, they did so well agai st them. How many points did Ole Miss score on Bama again?
By this logic, Leonard Fournette was not the best running back Alabama faced last year
