Both LSU and bamas special teams are bad so let's compare the advantages in the biggest areas.

Offense: LSU
LSU has a top 30 offense whereas bamas is ranked 47th...

Defense: bama
Both have top 15 defenses yet bama has top 5.

Quarterback: LSU

Harris has a better QBR according to everyone and 0 interceptions.(look it up)

I haven't seen bama play as much as I have LSU. It would be hard for me to believe bama had worse STs than us, though. I agree with the other evaluations.

Clearly, advantage Alabama - our QB plays on our Offense, while yours apparently goes out there by himself.

I love how the whole Harris has 0 interceptions thing is some big revelation.

Then you realized he's played one less game and has thrown the ball 100 times in total this year.

Our FG kicker is wildly inconsistent. But, otherwise, our special teams are ok to very good (punter).

Agreed they claim they have shite special teams too...but no way they are bdp special.

Offense line strong LSU....LF...wr LSU...and definitely qb LSU....Harris > choker.

Defense slight advantage bama...mills will help...both very good.

No they have not. They have been terrible all around. Until recently, Scott was inconsistent. We've had a punt blocked. We gave to a punt return TD. We've lost fumbles on THREE returns. Against aTm, we muffed a kickoff in the end zone then chose to bring it out -ending up starting at our own 7.

In a nutshell, we've had at least one example of every possible special teams failure this season and we are only at the halfway point.

Except for this, coverage has been outstanding this year.

Playing in Tuscaloosa this year + Fournette: Advantage LSU

These are the only stats we need to be discussing.

Nice shiny hook. I'll bite.

No argument here. It's comical that these two teams cannot get this right. Bama destroy's FG kickers.

Offense: LSU
LSU has a top 30 offense whereas bama's is ranked 47th.

It's 28/47 or 460.8 ypg to 430.1. Such a HUGE difference. This is a wash.

quote:

Defense: bama

Bama is at 6 and LSU is at 15. 271.9 ypg to 297.2 ypg. Again, kind of a wash. Both have EXCELLENT run defenses if you go by stats alone. Bama's secondary has shown improvement from seasons past. Still, it's a wash.

Quarterback: LSU

Harris has a better QBR according to everyone and 0 interceptions.(look it up)

Harris' performance against Florida was very good. LSU's passing offense is ranked 120 to Bama's 68. 135.3 ypg to 231.4 ypg. Their passing efficiency ratings are almost identical. Advantage LSU? Really? Wash.

Let's be honest here. Stats don't tell the story of the schedule. Bama played the harder schedule the first half of the season and now LSU is a bat from here on out. The Florida game was a very good litmus test and LSU passed, pun intended. This game is going to be the same as it always is. Brutal. Most intriguing matchup will be LSU's offensive line with Bama's D line. Interesting note here is that Bama and LSU are almost identical in sacks given up. LF7 will get his yards. The key will be can Bama get LSU in 3rd and long and force the pass. It's possible, but unfortunately, Bama has been a very bad home team so far this season. Turnovers, man.

Yes.

Yes.

Bama committed five turnovers against Ole Miss and lost.
Bama forced four turnovers against Texas A&M and won.
LSU has committed two turnovers on the season (one on ST).

Since y'all can't depend on J.K. Scott and we can't depend on Jamie Keehn to affect field position, turnovers will make or break this game.

ETA: Also worth mentioning that LSU is 37th in 3rd down % while Alabama is 116th.

LOL. How many picks is Coker throwing per 100 passes again?

Its not a wash on offense. Harris has been held back until the last few games and is oozing with confidence now and is supremely talented. LSU has always ran the ball well but this year it is by far best its been...great ol and superstar rb....supremely talented big athletic recs and a quarterback who doesn't make mistakes and has a strong arm and is accurate and here is the key....also mobile. If you try to stop lf...he will beat you with his arm and legs. BH is emerging as a star at qb and the LSU offense is beginning to click on all cylinders. You can call it a wash if you want...but LSU is better at qb, rb, we, and ol.

Guess you call that intangibles.

You don't hold back a player and then magically expect him to play at his best. You've leaned heavily on LF7 and he's produced. I'm not saying Harris is bad, not saying he won't produce, just saying that it's just silly to expect him to take a game fully on his shoulders if forced to and perform perfectly when he hasn't had to.

I also fully recognize that Coker is not good. But with the way BOTH teams play, both just need a game manager that makes fewer mistakes. That does favor LSU, but LSU has faced only one, maybe two teams that could challenge your O Line and LF7 until you hit Florida.
