I would have fired him last year! Thats the only mistake the AD made. LSU can and will do better. Art Briles maybe? With the talent in LA, he would just have to find a QB to fit the system.

Sure thing he's capable of winning championships there, so conventional wisdom says, "why leave?"... however, LSU is a better job. It has more money to pay for his salary and assistants. Jimbo has lost more than a couple of his top assistants to SEC schools because FSU wouldn't pony up. Our recruiting footprint is better. Ego driven coaches savor the opportunity to coach in the best leagues.
However, aside from this the Jimbo thing was always based on nostalgia he had for his time at LSU. The rest is just bonus.

Art Briles is more realistic than Jimbo Fisher. The people throwing Jimbo's name around are fools.

LOL. LSU is not a better job than Florida State.

Firing Miles was a big mistake.
Letting someone's past accomplishments dictate present and future value when record is getting worse is a big mistake.
Coaches can decline. CEOs can decline. Leaders in business can get worse.
Les became stale. Stale leads to decline.
Any number of coaches can win 7-8 games at LSU. We want better.

a Bama fan posted this is another thread:

LOL. So two of the top 10 programs of all time - both with the resources needed to succeed - would be non factors.
You ever think about how Notre Dame has been a dream job of his mentor and that IF he was offered he may ask his mentor for his thoughts on ND vs and SECw job? What do you think Urbbwould say?
How about the fact that his wife and her family are Cali people? Think her thoughts would be a non factor if USC came calling?
This is what LSU does better than any other program. You hype something up and convince yourselves it's done (Saban to Texas, Jimbo to LSU, your mythical 4 year championship cycle, that you'll be favored in every game this year, that you are actually contenders). Then, you spend your time trying to convince the rest of us that what you believe is true. And it never happens. One would expect you to learn at some point and take more of a wait and see approach, but that's not your way.
You guys are an optimistic bunch
Spot on.

Why are you SO concerned either way? Serious question.

No, you are correct, LA as a whole does not match Florida. However, you have to consider the whole "recruiting radius" in relation to how diluted that radius is by other teams in proximity. FL is clearly littered with major programs.
LA is per capita the highest producing NFL state, and we are the only major school close to the epicenters of talent. Further, while everyone battles it out in Atlanta as their secondary market, LSU dips into Houston and east Texas. There is only one other SEC school that uses Houston as a necessary/available pipeline. LSU also has access to the panhandle, just as well as FSU does.

Don't start a thread about another team of which you obviously don't know shite about.

Because every now-and-then I actually care about other teams and fans in this conference and wish the best for other SEC teams (except when those teams plays Mizzou, of course).
I truly believe LSU made a mistake firing Miles.
I hope I'm wrong. I want LSU to do well.

That's not how it works. Both of the previous 2 coaches won their first national title at LSU.

Good point.
I truly hope LSU makes a solid hire and simply reloads rather than having to completely rebuild.

not sure there's much to rebuild outside of an offense, but the talent is already in place, it's not like we have a bare cupboard here
