We aren't the premier SEC job, but if you want to coach in the SEC we are the only premier available job any time soon. Sure Saban could retire or Flarda or Georgia prematurely ditches their new coach, but barring unforeseen circumstances this is the best you're going to get for a few years.
We have the opportunity to get someone we'd normally come in 2nd for.

We sucked before we fired our coach. Sorry, I should have said "we put ourselves in a situation greater than that in which we'd normally expect to be under the circumstances."
Obviously every team with a good coach is in a better situation than us, but title's have character limits man.

LSU admin has handled the last 2 years miserably, and coaches will think about that before signing up for it. Also, being in the west with Saban will give pause to any candidate.

Frankly, the only team in the West you can possibly talk trash to is MSU. You're starting over from the bottom, Playuh. This Bama, Florida, Georgia level mouthing is laughable.

Which puts Alabama in the position of not knowing LSU's position either which is not a very good position for Alabama.

Not unless you already had your guy lined up. That's how you do this. You go through back channels to see if you can hire the guy you want. If you can you fire the current guy. If not, you wait until you can hire the one you want.

Alabama fans weren't so phucking mouthy when they were going thru the years with the Mike's and the other coaching hires that never saw the field. But bring on Saban and they come out the wood works.
