It's hard not to be impressed by what LSU has done on in their last 3 SEC games. LSU's games against Florida and Kentucky surprised me, and I was not surprised that Ole Miss beat LSU.

Despite the progress that it appears LSU has made, there are still two major unanswered questions.

1. Can LSU hold up against a power running game?
2. Does LSU have a quarterback?

Florida, Kentucky, and Ole Miss do not have great running games that pose a threat to LSU.

Florida and Ole Miss' offenses are shaky as well.

I didn't watch last night's game, but I read the recap and box score, and I get the feeling that it was just a sloppy game.

How would LSU fare versus a healthy Georgia rushing attack or Arkansas? Those two teams can run the football and slow down the run. I didn't include Alabama in this list because I'm not sold on Alabama's offense this season, especially on the road.

Good luck LSU. Keep up the good work, hopefully not against my Crimson Tide.

Well to add to our already shitty run game their defense played well and we had lost 2 of our starting O-line players.

Hard to say right now. State and Auburn gashed LSU for 302 (6.2ypc) and 298 (6.1ypc) respectively. I think our defense is playing much much better right now and DJ Welter is no longer playing MLB.

I think teams with good lines can run on us, but I don't think opponents will put up numbers like that again.

State and Auburn also both put up 268 passing yards. They average 258ypg and 215ypg respectively. Did the run open the pass or the pass open the run? Little of both.

UK averages 266ypg passing and LSU held them to 146. Ole Miss averages 268ypg passing and LSU held them to 176.

So our passing defense let AU and State pass for more than their season averages, but held UK and Ole Miss well below theirs.

tl;dr The defense has grown up as a whole and while Dline might still be susceptible, LSU won't be gashed like they were against AU/State.

No.

Solid post. I agree with all that you said. LSU is a flawed team, but we are improving each week. Not sure if it will be enough against Bama. I am just glad it has a big game feel when I didnt think it would about a month ago.

LSU defense look really good last night. We lost the turnover battle, the field position battle and they wouldn't allow OM to do anything. I expect Bama to bring a better running game and have a more composed QB that OM did.

Meh, this point in the season, everybody is different. Injuries, player development, etc. its like a whole different team out there...Ole miss has peaked IMO, LSU/Bama are improving.

I think the bama game will be a war we eventually lose due to our inability to pass the ball.

Arky will be a toss up, with us being on the road I don't like it.

AM we should beat .

My bet is we finish 1-2 down the stretch.

Hope like hell I'm wrong.

I told my father before the game began that I thought Ole Miss was a fraud. I figured the game would come down to Bo Wallace versus a talented young LSU secondary. Ole Miss isn't a running threat, so the defensive backs could just focus on the pass. I didn't make a stat prediction, so the nearly 300 yards rushing was a surprised. I knew LSU could pull out the win and wasn't expecting a blow out. Tiger fans here along with my own reasoning convinced me that Ole Miss would be in trouble this weekend despite their success the past two seasons against Chavis' defense.

Alabama is a flawed team, and I'm not sure if the team is improving or if the quality of opponent has just declined. West Virginia and Ole Miss are the best two teams Alabama has played, and the team didn't look hot versus either. Alabama still has to play Mississippi State and Auburn. A healthy Cooper will do well versus Auburn's secondary, but if those teams key in on him, I'm not sure our offense will be ready.

Versus LSU, I'd rather our team not have to pass the ball that much. LSU may have the most talented pass defenders that Blake Sims has seen this season.

Try watching game next time ,you will get a better understanding. Like how LSU pushed Ole Miss up and down the field.

My thoughts as an LSU fan fwiw: LSU is very young and talented. All the early departures have really hurt. LSU could beat ANY team in college football since they are peeking at the right time and as talented as anyone, BUT they could also lose to anyone in the sec pretty much since they are so young. Also the qb play has to become more consistent. We can't turn the ball over and beat good teams consistently. We will be a force next year if we don't lose all draft eligible prospects.
Our defense has came a long ways recently, as has our o-line.

The LSU BAMA game will be interesting as always. Either team could win like always.
