LSU is just a victim of misguided perception

The peception that LSU is always tougher and better than they actually are.

Notre Dame believes they beat a powerhouse SEC team. That's the narrative that Notre Dame and ESPN will use to justify their claims that the SEC is overrated:

"Look, a decent Notre Dame beat the mighty LSU. SEC is overrated."

The opposite is in fact true: LSU is a mediocre team that was beaten by a slightly better but mediocre Notre Dame team.

The truth is that both Notre Dame and LSU are barely above suckage, but Notre Dame sucked a bit less than LSU...and neither teams are powerhouse teams.

LSU's loss does not "prove" the SEC to be overrated. It just proves that a barely decent SEC team can be beaten by a slightly better but barely decent independent team.

That's all.

You are reading way too much into 1 game.

I see where you are coming from, I thought the sec took a step backwards when it allowed missouri into the conference. I still think that way, but it is my perception

Agreed. LSU was one game away from a total collapse this year. Miles should be commended for holding it all together.

That's his point. Here on the Rant we all know about tDecline. It's the rest of college football that hasn't seen the signs.

Mizzoukills is also a victim of misguided perception.

One would assume that any person spending large amounts of time typing messages on a message board would eventually post something of content. Monkey banging on a piano for an infinite amount of time playing Beethoven...that sort of thing.

Kills defies all logic. Sorry that so many people don't get you like I do, Kills. It's not your fault that everyone expects you to post worthwhile thoughts, it's their unrealistic expectations.

It was actually a good post. Your response to it is a knee-jerk reaction to the conditioning of the Rant. But it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Would you also agree that Bama stealing W's against Arkie & LSU saved their season?

If Jennings doesn't throw the bomb against one of the worst secondaries of the 2013 FBS schools to end the regular season last year, does the whole 2014 season make more sense? I contend that it does.

His point is valid about this year's LSU team, but it is sidetracked in his first sentence: "The peception that LSU is always tougher and better than they actually are."

Overall, the point is legit, albeit obvious. LSU was a victim of inflated expectations this year and played a bowl game against an evenly matched opponent who was thought to be inferior.

Fair enough on the first sentence. He's probably trying to catch his limit on his first thread of the day so he can start New Year's Eve festivities.

Well if that's the case, I find it interesting that you chose to flame me. You aren't even an LSU fan!

Are you?

You make some valid points, but I perceive - based on actual games played this year - that LSU would beat Missouri if they played in BR or on a neutral field.

I need a 100 post thread before I can go into the New Year a happy man.

This thread ain't it.
