It should be handled cleanly and quickly. Especially with a guy who has done so much for the program. You don't let him twist in the wind and bleed out in front of the country through non comments and leaks from boosters. Make a definitive statement on the future of your program. I'm sure they will Sunday, but that's a bit late in the PR game.

I don't think the issue is firing Miles. I'm s how the university has gone about it. They leaked information to the media to let it be known a vacancy was forthcoming. Meanwhile Miles still has to carry on for essentially three weeks knowing he's a deadman walking. He should have been fired after the Arkanasa game. This has done twO things:
1. players can't focus on the games knowing their coach is done if they lose
2. It has made LSU look bad especially the viral video of the little girls and some of the older fans who really liked Miles genuinely.
Last point is I don't take issue with the firing. I think Miles deserved to be treated better on the way out. Announce it after the Arkanasas game and just say thank you coach we appreciate your time and energy the last 11 years. At this time we have chosen to go a different route.
Let's remember this is a culmination of years. NOONE liked this hire 11 years ago after Saban left especially with reports at the time that an NFL coach was interested. Can't remember his name from TN. Then TN 2005 happened but from there Miles turned it around and endeared himself to the fans. He was engrossed in the culture on and off the field very much unlike Saban had. He was the antithesis of Saban. Then 2012 NC game and it started all over again. Since then his detractors from the beginning have waited for their opportunity and now they have it.

Sounds like the Alabama vs Oklahoma St "more deserving" poll that ESPN had back in 2011. 49/50 states votes that okie state was more deserving.
How'd that go? In general -- the masses are idiots

Do you people think before you type?
In what world is announcing that your coach is fired before the regular season is over any more respectful?
The writing was on the wall after the Arky game, and everyone knew if Ole Miss blew us out then Miles would most likely be gone. It didn't take any "leaks" for this whole thing to gain momentum. Writers were writing about it before the Ole Miss game.
At this point, as an AD, all you can do is keep quiet and make sure you have another coach lined up. Alleva has no control over the media and crazy message board posters.

Thats fine except Rabalais has admitted it was a story within the program. Even your local guys are saying this was leaked by LSU. It's obvious to anyone except the homiest of homers.

It only happens all the time. And doesn't leave any gray areas for things like this to happen. Had Alleva come out and done the deed right after Arky, this backlash wouldn't be happening right now, and both parties could have moved on with certainty.

they should be getting hammered

But it was okay to make fun of the buffoonery.
I swear, reading some of these responses from our fans towards the media, it's seeming like we wanted to fire him because we were embarrassed by him, and keep saying "but you made fun of him" to justify it.
I don't care if my coach takes a piss on the stadium wall during a game, as long as he's winning it.

In response to the OP..."So?"

Point to me where a winning coach was fired before the season was over without any scandals or anything.

Bull-fricking-shite. LSU would be getting even MORE crucified right now if they fired their winningest coach in history with 2 games left to play in the regular season. Stop talking out of your arse.

The Mad Hatter is LSU. Without Les LSU is a corndog without the dog.

That's pure speculation and could be anything from a drunk booster talking too much, to the towel boy hearing rumors in the locker room. Local writers were writing about this after the freaking Arky game. Why is it all of a sudden some big surprise?
Do you honestly think Alleva wanted this leaked? What would he gain from that?
Posted on 11/27/15 at 8:14 pm to rintintin
People would have moved on by now, and tomorrow's game could have been a victory lap for Les. Instead, it's a shite show. Sorry you can't understand.

I couldn't care less what the media or a poll has to say. As a fan tbat loves Miles, it's over. He lost the team and the DECLINE in the SEC the last 4 years is real. Time to move on. Love ya coach

Funny how this seems to be the consensus around here, yet not a single power team in the SEC would take Miles over their current coach.
Ya'll are caught up in the emotional aspect of Miles being an awesome dude who really adds a flair to the SEC. I admit, it's hard to watch this go down because of how great of a guy Miles is, but anybody who watches a hint of LSU football understands that this is a necessary business decision if LSU wants to compete for championships again.
I'd take him if I were an Auburn, Georgia or UT fan.
