List is shite if LSU is mentioned in the same breath as Florida and Georgia academically...

It's not even close, LSU is sub-100 on most lists while Florida is around 50 and Georgia around 60. How can you put LSU in the same sentence?

The athletic dominance scale was then compared to the FORBES America's Top Colleges list. The top school on this academic/athletic dominance ranking is Stanford, which is the No. 2 school overall. Louisiana State University came in at No. 20 of this list while ranking lowest in the college ranking at No. 219 overall

They probably should have calculated the athletic component differently. Strictly looking at total number of national titles throughout a school's history doesn't really tell the whole story, especially as to where a program stands today.

In other words LSU's ranking is based mainly on its athletic dominance.

I can guarantee you there isn't as much of a difference in them as you think there is. They're all public state schools for fricks sake.

LSU could be if the state actually funded the state flagship school.
Too many cuts and other smaller schools puts a drain on higher ed in LA.
Need to close about 5 regional universities and put all those resources into LSU and they could compete academically with anyone.

Most of these other schools have the same number of smaller schools as well. Why is it not a drain on them. And before you think I'm bashing Louisiana I've lived her all my life I just don't agree that the smaller schools are the problem.

This is a strange list. Any ranking that even mentions athletic dominance and includes Yale and Princeton in the top ten is dipping into ancient college sports history. Forbes' list is not relevant in the 21st century.

Says the individual who thinks sports means only football. Both Princeton and Yale have won a lot of games in a lot of sports in recent years.

You buried the lead.

The 25 schools on the list below all excel both academically and in sports:

1. Stanford University

2. University of California, Los Angeles

3. University of Southern California

4. University of Texas at Austin

My question is why would a business magazine even bother with such a topic...are we gonna see Athlon Sports start writing about the GDP next?
