As a Gamecock fan, I want LSU to retain Les to keep you guys from taking a potential hire from us. Obviously, you would get dibs over us.

That being said, I have read that LSU has some financial issues. Is that other than the $15M you'd owe Les?

Well Jindal cut the state funding by 40%. But Lousiana just elected a democratic governor the other day so they probably will get their arse raped in taxes to get that back, as well as sharia law will be in effect by next friday.

Jindal has been spending the money on exorcisms and his laughable Presidential campaign.

Athletics are a separate entity. The problem isn't the money it's the perception that six months ago Alexander was talking about bankruptcy for the school and now a $17mm buyout is on the table.

Joe Taxpayer doesn't understand that the TAF and LSU are different.

LSU athletic department and TAF have the funding. Also LSU has the option of paying it out over 96 months. The buyout is not an issue.

The school supposedly did, but it proved to be mostly political bullshite.

The 2 aren't tied together. LSU athletics are separate from the university. LSU is one of just a small number of schools that's athletic program is 100% self sufficient and it has always been that way. Athletic dept. takes zero dollars from the State of Louisiana. In fact they give millions to the school every year, I think it was 7 million just last year.

The football money is entirely separate from the school itself. The school has had some severe budget issues the last few years, but not the athletic department. In fact the football program gives the academics something like $5mil a year from its profits.

I'll clarify something, because there is a lot of misinformation going around regarding LSU's budget.

13% total of LSU's funding came from the state.

13%, total.

I read it was proposed earlier that the state would cut 80% funding. 80% of 13% is 10.4%.

So LSU loses 10% total of it's budget, OMGONOZ declare bankruptcy etc.

The LSU budget "crisis" is overblown, and the chancellor of LSU makes deceitful claims about it to bring people to his side. He would have you think that LSU is losing 80% total of its funding. If that were the case, LSU would have closed yesterday.

LSU is doing absolutely fine financially. They will raise tuition and all will be good. There is no crisis. The tuition is already cheap as it is.

No people are fricking stupid and don't understand that LSU athletics, unlike most of you leaches, doesn't take money from the school, but rather pays money into it.

The LSU AD generates the second wealthiest AD in the conference as far as revenues at 130 million dollars last year. That is 6th best in the country.

All the football programs are, but there are only six self sufficient college athletic programs in the nation. LSU is one of them.
