Dale Brown is the shite. I decided here recently that he was a person I wanted to know more about, so I started reading up on him. He is amazing. He is someone they definitely should do a movie about.

Yeah he's cool as shite, a great recruiter, and his players loved him. Good man by most accounts too.

Some terrible coaching performances in the big dance though and he left LSU fans with a bad taste in their mouths with the way he left the program.

But yeah, he should be remembered fondly. Quite a character.

Yes I have seen the Sec storied. I mean about his entire life as a person, not just him and Shaq or his time at LSU.

Daddy Dale gets all the credit for bringing LSU basketball into the big time, but calling him a "character" does not come close. He was down right whacky off the court at times. And extremely vindictive against those he felt besmirched either he or his program. He used to hassle the crap out of Smoke when Smoke was Skip's #2 man & threatened him one time, for some slight or another, to "release the files " he..Dale..had on Smoke to The Advocate.

Sorry. I didn't know him. Just spoke to him on the phone once. I was ticked he'd ask if a player could retake a test because he had been busy traveling for a game. A coach doing that is like a parent calling and saying "Can my kid retake the test because he was busy working a double shift to pay for school?" No, and no. Do you want to know how often students ask for extensions because their "grandparent died"? It's ridiculous.

When I was an undergrad at LSU I wrote him a letter about something at LSU I needed help with. He invited me to his office, provided me with a solution, gave me a pep talk, and sent me on my way, feeling like a new man. He made it clear that his door was open and that his help had no conditions or strings attached other than I be honorable in my conduct.

For my money he is one of the top FIVE all time CHARACTERS in Baton Rouge history. He cuts a formidable path of decency and good will. He's an American Original, and a fine Man.

Dale wasn't a bad coach negatigers never change,if you lose a game you must be a bad coach ,back in that day the nega tigers hung on to mcnights every word instead of Sabin's ! Mcnight hated dale brown because with out the referees he couldn't beat Dale , so when he publicly disrespected Dale, the stupid mega tigers believed him !
