Yea I mentioned perrilloux at the top, pretty dumb not to call him an elite Qb recruit.

We've been in the running for some great recruits. Just off the top of my head, we were in the top 3 for:
Jameis Winston
Chad Kelly
Gunner Kiel
Felipe Franks
Colt McCoy
Terrell Pryor

SEC QB YPA 2015
1. Kyler Murray - 6.3 YPA
2. Chad Kelly - 4.7 YPA
3. Josh Dobbs - 4.6 YPA
4. Maty Mauk - 3.8 YPA
5. Dak Prescott - 3.7 YPA
6. Brandon Harris - 3.4 YPA

National QB YPA (minimum 50 attempts)
1. Jerrard Randall, Arizona - 9.00
2. Favian Upshaw, Ga Southern - 7.35
3. Jalen Nixon, ULL - 6.66
4. Jeff Smith, Boston College - 6.31
5. Kevin Ellison, Ga Southern - 6.25
6. Tyrone Swoopes, Texas - 6.09
7. Marquise Williams, UNC - 6.00
8. JT Barrett, Ohio State - 5.93
9. Lamar Jackson, Louisville - 5.89
10. Gus Ragland, Miami OH - 5.81

So, I mean, Dobbs is a solid runner, but he's not an elite, terrifying QB running the ball. He runs hard, is tough to stop for no gain or a loss, but outside of a couple big runs vs Florida, he is not a guy who is going to break you for 80 yards ala Nick Marshall.

ok so what you're saying is that alvin kamara averaged 6.5 yards per carry as did LF7. So by your logic kamara is as good as lf7.

Regardless of how you want to look at it Dobbs outrushed Harris by 445 yards. SOG says that's not much difference. A "great runningback" out rushed Dobbs by 316 SOG says that's alot.

Harris, LF& and guise combined for 2615 yards rushing 29 TD's
Dobbs, Hurd, Kamara combined for 2657 yards rushing
30 TD's

I agree Harris COULD get better in his 2nd year as Dobbs COULD get better in his 3rd.

This year will tell us all we need to know. Generally speaking, Les' QBs have performed better over time. Jefferson was kind of the antithesis of that, but Russell, Lee & Mettenberger all got better over time. It's unfortunate we havent really had that guy step right in and perform at a high level, but at least we've had seasons of good QB play. 2014 and 2015 were rough years breaking in not only new, but young QBs. 2016 will tell a lot if QBs are still progressing under Miles. Harris definitely needs to step it up some this year, but not a whole lot. I think I can see him in that 140-150 QB rating range this season, he was 130 last season.

I don't understand this "great" running back thing. I haven't seen anyone call USC's RB's great. Beside the point, because using just yards is stupid. Those guys split carries. They averaged 5+ and 6+ yards per carry. For all intents and purposes their numbers = 1 running back because of the way they moved them in and out.

Also, I said their combined numbers (which makes sense because they played half the time each) were a lot more.

LSU has traditionally not been a QB destination. We've only had a few in our history. This is absolutely not a Les issue.

no im not saying that but if you want to compare something it's a much better statistic. comparing total stats when someone had 3 times as many carries makes you look bad.

Recruiting the QB isnt the main issue. Developing them, and running an antiquated offense is.

Les has problems gettinf the best out of his talent. That's not just an antecdote, it's proven fact with years and years of proof, and believed by many coaches and media.

there's a reason why he was picked 3rd team preseason All SEC by the coaches. Thats ahead of 11 other QB's.

Honestly, Miles is the problem. He has zero feel for running a balanced offense. QB s will always struggle at LSU with Miles in charge.

LSU recruits really good QBs, they haven't developed them well in the last few years though.

Whether its Les or Cam that is at fault that is the main thing holding LSU back right now. If LSU had Dan Enos and what he did with Brandon Allen last year then they would be scary as hell.

I keep beating the dead horse of asking why the TE waggle that Arkansas lives on is not a staple of the power running LSU squad. That one play alone could add another 50+ yards a game and back off defenses.

Les miles has a big problem. He wants a running QB but then he wants to make that QB into a pocket passer. That's the problem. He needs to either get a pocket passer or let the mobile QB play his game.

I don't think they've had trouble recruiting them I just think some have been bad fits. I see dual threat guys running a pro style. I think miles likes athletic qbs buts wants a conventional offense. Most dual threat guys don't make their money passing but with their feet.
I believe les would be more comfortable and more successful with a conventional drop back guy.

With that said he has recruited a couple head scratchers. Andrew hatch?
Maybe the biggest being Stephen rivers. He was being looked at by UNA and middle Tennessee. Then LSU signed him. I remember people talking about rivers signing with LSU with a little chuckle behind it. I think even les would say wtf was I thinking on that one.
