Dons outside of 1 or 2 games was garbage. How he gets the hype he does is beyond me.

My LSU friends will go into shrieking denial ... but Jordon Jefferson was perhaps the most overall talented athlete recruited to LSU the last 10 years excepting only Perriloux. He could have been an NFL safety or even linebacker prospect.
HOWEVER... his case illustrates the problem at LSU in a nutshell. He was thrown into starting as a freshman, and never in four years had a QB coach that taught him even the basics of how to play college QB.
He would annually come out of the Manning camp with one of the highest arm ratings, then just be told to play sandlot football and win games on his athleticism. I swear I saw him drawing a play in the dirt in the huddle, "everyone go long, a couple of you stay back and block, then I'll scramble." And if it didn't work he was regularly thrown under the bus by the coaching staff, Les Miles, and the ignorant fans.
In short, LSU has had a really poor record of coaching QBs to play within a well defined theme, partly because LSU offense HAS HAD NO WELL DEFINED THEME... My opinion it is squarely on the head of the Bo Shem-type coach.

Jordan Jefferson once threw a shovel pass to a linebacker..... In the national championship game.
Calling him the best anything is retarded.

When you say this about the school that Patrick Peterson came from, you're proving yourself to be borderline retarded.
Not that we needed any more proof from you, but still.

With Brandon Allen, LSU would've won the Natty last year.
It will be interesting. Brandon Allen's stats as a first-year starter and Brandon Harris's as a first-year starter are very comparable. To Brandon's credit, he really improved. We'll see if Harris will or can.

Dobbs also ran for nearly 700 yards...harris barely made 200.
Dobbs 15 td's through the air 11 rushing
Harris 13 tds passing 4 rushing

eh, kind of. he didn't start a game at LSU until the last game of the year his freshman year.

this is just not even close to accurate

Jefferson always had a strong arm. it was everything else he brought to the table as a QB that was lacking
quote:lol what? Les Miles has never thrown any player under the bus. if anything he did the exact opposite with Jefferson
And if it didn't work he was regularly thrown under the bus by the coaching staff, Les Miles, and the ignorant fans.

As per usual, Jack shows he's, perhaps, the least informed poster on this site.
It's quite amazing, really.

That is one thing about Miles. He doesn't throw his players under the bus

Dobbs had 671 on 146 carries (4.6 YPC), Harris had 226 on 67 carries (3.4 YPC).

if you can't see that Dobbs isn't a great QB then you have problems.
I don't think Dobbs is Vince Young, but I think he's better than Brandon Harris. Dobbs' receiving core is inferior to LSU, and he doesn't have Fournette in his backfield. Makes life a lot easier on Harris.
Dobbs is also a far better runner than Harris.
If Harris is better than Josh Dobbs this season, LSU is almost a sure thing for the playoff.

Harris also played half the season with a hernia injury. He's not Joe Montana but he has a lot of raw talent and can make plays for sure. If he even improves 10-15% he'll be one of top qbs in the conference. His total stat numbers won't compare to some though simply because LSU does not throw as much.
Ole Miss is the only other team in the West that returns a starter at the position.

Dobbs was much more heavily relied upon than Harris was. Against good teams their efficiency numbers were almost equal.
Dobbs is better than Harris is (almost solely because of his legs at this point), but he's also a year older than Harris is. And he isn't THAT much better.

I mean, this is a pretty significant difference.
eta: But you are right, he isn't THAT much better than Harris.

Dobbs also has a noodle for an arm. Most TN fans wouldn't argue with that

he's asked to run more. he runs a lot more zone read plays than LSU does. He's bigger than Harris so he can pick up more tough yards, but i don't think he's necessarily a much better runner than harris. when harris actually does scramble, he can pick up big chunks of yards fairly easily

This is the type of ignorant crap that I was talking about, and I clearly said "athlete" noting the failure of the coaching staff to make him an elite QB.
Yes he did throw a shovel pass interception. And Payton Manning threw how many interceptions in the NFL super bowl against New Orleans? That makes Payton M terrible?
Ask yourself... "why did Jefferson throw that shovel pass interception?" The reason was because he was running for his life ... again ... under an unrelenting ferocious unblocked Alabama pass rush, with the LSU WRs just standing and watching as they did all game, and because a safety valve RB turned his back on the play.
This is what I mean about LSU fans. No chest.
