LSU Fans, what are the expectations and timeline?

What are the reasonable expectations and the timeline for success with the next coach? It's not a rebuilding job. You have tons of talent. So are you expecting to compete for a championship right away?
And what would be disappointing to you? If the new coaching staff only wins seven or eight games the first year, what your thoughts be?

I have no expectations. Cant imagine hiring a "big name" until seasons end...

Don't really have any expectations as of now. You're right, it won't be a "rebuilding" job in terms of talent, but perhaps philosophy, spirit, etc. No idea who the new coach will be. If he won 7 games his first year, yes I think that would be a disappointment. This year, LSU finally had some leadership, as the mass exodus of juniors was temporarily halted. Team will be a little younger next year so who knows. I guess I could have simply replied with, "no expectations."

I don't understand the timing of this decision. Seems to be made completely out of anger and frustration.
Why wouldn't you wait until the end of the regular season and announce? In between, you can discuss with Les, plan for his replacement and work hard to keep the recruiting class together.
Nothing good is going to come from this and its the players who will suffer most.

Expectations... Make a HOMERUN hire and start playing like a smart disciplined football team next year. The cupboard is full and the resources are here.

I see Coach Orgeron as the new coach and I expect 10-2 finish with SEC Championship game appearance

Nothing bad can come from this either. This team was going to lose 2-3 more games at the current rate. Why would we want to be looking for a coach at the end of the year when everyone else is? IMO this gives us a HUGE leg up on the competition in landing everyone's first choice.

I thought the same. However, it was probably best to cut the cancer now. There was too much negativity that was about to spiral out of control.
