I know Fournette is your guy...

But after watching you all vs MSU, I'm not sure what to make of your team just yet.

The passing game wasn't very productive although Harris looks more poised than last year. 3 stud WRs too.

Defense seems solid. Your front 4 looked good, are they deep? You have a young secondary, correct?

Just looking for solid info, thanks.

Not deep, and young secondary but very good. Will get better as the year goes on.

You didnt watch then. It was actually very productive. It just was hardly used.

We are a little thin on the defensive front.

Yes, but it has been this way for a few years now it seems. Pretty talented group.

We were jeckyll and hyde against MSU.

We come out with a dynamic offense spreading the ball around to build a 21-6 lead (and should have been 28-6 if not for a dumb penalty) then went full retard with offensive playcalling and tried to run 20 minutes off the clock with only a 2 score lead.

Secondary isn't really young, White is a junior and stud, Mills when he does play is a senior, his replacement is a junior in Jefferson. Toliver is the young buck as a freshman, but looked like a veteran. Adams is "only" a sophomore but obviously played a ton last year so is pretty experienced and is a stud himself.

We are not deep particularly anywhere on defense at the moment. Decent DT rotation of 4 guys, only 3 guys at De they were comfortable with against MSU. LB really no depth. The secondary is the deepest but with Mills out we have less options at safety if we need to go deep there.

Passing game looked a lot better than the stats. Harris had a 37 yard Td wiped out and a 23 yard completion accidentally called incomplete. Passer rating would have been 169 if those would have went our way.

We got scared of McNeese St. and called off the game after our first series. Nothing more to see here.

I know he had a good completion percentage. Were the completions out routes/RB dumps or down field?

We had several long passes and runs called back. I think we had 3 long TDs called back?

Front 4 is good, but not all that deep. Secondary is the strength of the defense and probably every player on the 2 deep could start at other SEC schools.

I think he threw about 3 WR screens (twice in two plays). None of those were productive, although complete.

His other throws were mostly downfield, not to mention a 40 yard or so TD bomb right on the money that unfortunately got called back.

He also had a 20 yard or so completion over the middle that was clearly a catch but ruled incomplete and not overturned due to not enough evidence.

Maybe i'm biased but it looked like a clear catch to me.

We got very conservative the 2nd half and threw a bunch of dinks basically which lowered his ypa a lot (since it was only 14 attempts).

He had a 37 yard TD to Dural called back due to a hold that had no effect on the play and also a 23 yard completion to Dupre that was falsely called incomplete. That's 60 more yards in those 2 plays. Final state line could have been 11 for 15, 131 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT with 4 carries for 53 yards (also took 1 sack for -5 yards)

-Can the young guards on the OL improve and start to gel with the rest of the unit?

-Can the defensive line get pressure on the QB throughout the game without wearing down?

-Will the coaches open up the playbook and allow Harris to make plays?

I can give you my impressions from the MSU game. The team seems to have no glaring weaknesses and several strengths. DB seems to be a HUGE area of strength this year. Even without injured Jalen Mills at S for a couple more games, 4 of the 5 starters all seem to future high draft picks. Nickle back seems a step slower than last year after his injury but its early yet. LB's are great but mike LB Beckwith cannot afford to take off many plays, we really don't have much in the way of replacing him as yet, or at least we havent seen it. The DL looks like it will be a dominant crew this year. We were sweating the backups at DT but those are two highly recruited guys now in their 3rd year and looks like the light has finally come on for them. DE is a little light on depth, but the top 3 guys are in the upper echelon of the SEC with true frosh Key looking like a future superstar talent. The OL looks like 5 future pro's after 5 star freshman Tuehema took over at guard in the 2nd half, if these guys arent the top unit in the SEC, they are in the conversation. You already know about the skill players, TE Smith we all think here will be used more this year and will surprise some folks. Harris looks like the real deal, thinking the coaches are going to take the wraps off against AU and then the world will know about him. To me, talent wise, we seem primed for a run to the 'ship!
