Been watching a lot of LSU DAD because he's awesome and came across this video: LINK

He claims Frank Wilson is the #1 recruiter in the country, is this claim true?

I wouldn't say #1 in the country, but he is definitely a top recruiter and would be great on anyone's staff.

When Frank first came to LSU the 2011 La 5 star class flocked with him. Within days 3 or 4 were committed.

Including one decommitting from Utk. His la connections are 1st class, but he did after all learn how to recruit from Orgeron. As did Freeze. So it's time to find the next Frank and let Coach Zo groom him into another recruiting machine.

Him and the new coach at Texas State, Everett Withers, certainly started off their careers saying the right thing.

I know at Texas State, the Withers hire has really gotten their fans excited again, I hope the Wilson hire at UTSA does the same. That has the makings of being a great rivalry if they could start meeting regularly OOC (next scheduled game is 2017 I think).

Frank's New Orleans connections are unmatched. The N.O. just got a lot easier to recruit for out of state schools.

Frank came in 2010 though and 2011 was good because LA was just starting to recover from Katrina and had it's best cycle since before Les was here.

Getting Frank I think helped because you saw other schools hiring coaches from that Nola area trying to get a foot in

He's a top notch recruiter, and also learned from Les Miles.

Yes, but the 2011 class of Freak, Landry, Hill, Collins, Magee, and OBJ loved Frank Wilson and started giving verbals very shortly after the hire was announced.
Landry and Freak both commented that had Frank been at UT still they would have signed.

Not one of those fans, but Mike (Burnell) Wallace was one of, if not the first, players he brought to Ole Miss. Flipped him from Oregon State, but Frank's being Wallace's high school coach certainly made it easier for him.

What he had to say about the value of Frank Wilson is accurate, arguably best recruiter in LSU history, but then he started pushing an agenda. Frank wasn't qualified to become OC at LSU or any other major program for that matter, he needs experience and he's going to start getting that at UTSA. Happy for him, hate to see him go, he's a guy that will never be replaced, but he's done more for LSU than any other coach the last 6 years and I wish nothing but the best for him.

Burton Burns says hello. Frank isn't the only purple knight coaching college football. The old school New Orleanians are more loyal to Burton.

Wilson being gone is good for everyone but lsu. Some will admit it, some won't, but they all know the truth. It can hurt sometimes...

That's not exactly all true. Frank had let some New Orleans kids slip through cracks but he got majority of them. If Lsu hires Juluke all bets are off, many high school coaches have said he is an absolute rock star in the New Orleans area and that there wouldn't be a drop off.

He is badazz. By and large owned New Orleans for LSU. He is St. Aug grad (Lionel Turner (Carolina), Leonard Fournette, Benjarvis Green-Ellis, etc. He coached at one of inner-city schools (Carver? Marshall Faulk's school). He is a great asset.

Move over...time for Coach Ogeron to take reigns.

Coach Wilson will be missed.

From Wikipedia: "In 2011, Rivals.com named Wilson the National Recruiter of the Year. In 2014, NFL.com named Wilson the top recruiter in all of college football. In 2015, Scout.com honored Wilson as the SEC Recruiter of the Year."

He's an incredible recruiter.

Big loss for us but kudos to him for getting a HC gig.
