It has to be the Iron Bowl. Starting in 2009, the winner of the IB has played for the natty or been in the playoff.

If Bama loses in 2009, no way they play Texas
If Auburn loses in 2010, no way they play Oregon.
If Bama loses in 2011, no way they play LSU.
If Bama loses in 2012 (especially to that Auburn team), no way they play Notre Dame.
If Auburn loses in 2013, not only do they not play FSU, Bama more than likely does.
If Bama loses in 2014, no way they play OSU in the playoff.

In the Bama/LSU series, had Bama beaten LSU in 2010, Auburn still beats Bama so the result is the same.
Had Bama beaten LSU in 2011, Bama still would have played for the title, just not against LSU, so the result is the same.
Had LSU beaten Bama in 2013, LSU may have played FSU as opposed to Auburn.

Since 2007, Bama has won the Iron Bowl 36-0, 42-14, and 49-0. Auburn has been inconsistent, at best, over the last 8 years. I'd have to go with LSU-Bama, on average, each game has been within a touchdown.

Until the third quarter anyway... If we don't fumble on the goalline I think we win that game, fwiw.

Maybe LSU needs to get on AU and UA's level to where they can lose on the road and still make it the ship. Losing in Tiger Stadium as proved by Bama in 2011 and Auburn in 2013 doesn't mean shite!!!!

Auburn isn't 0 for the last 4 against Bama like LSU. Also, nice arbitrary date you pulled out of your arse.

Since Saban came back to college coaching in 2007:

AU: 3-5
LSU: 3-5

Both teams have the same identical record against Alabama. 3-6 for LSU including the ship in 2011.

THe impact was greater with LSU because the Saban thing drew attention. Auburn and Bama have basically played elimination games more often. LSU was in 2007 for them but the others were not elim games. Auburn, end of season losses would have changed some NC's for both Bama and Auburn. It's hard to say because Saban was such a story, still is in Louisiana but the luster wore off that nationwide. Bama and AU are just about always gonna have one team in the hunt.

It's a tough question, because I don't think it's been consistent year to year.

Because you aubbies act like you as great as you big bro. You went winless in the sec. Say that again winless, in one of those seasons you listed.

I disagree with the number of years a national championship berth was on the line going into the Iron Bowl. Just in the 4 year span I mentioned: Without the Camback Au doesn't go to the ship in 2010. Bama never would have gotten another shot at LSU in the ship in 2011 without winning the Iron Bowl. Auburn had already lost to LSU in 2013. Without winning the Iron Bowl. There is no way Auburn would have went to the ship against FSU.

You didn't read my post carefully. I specifically stated when BOTH teams had national championship implications on the line. Alabama was out of the national championship picture in 2010 and Auburn was out of the national championship picture in 2011. 2013 was the only time they met when BOTH teams had a national championship or even a conference championship berth on the line. I can say the same thing about the LSU-Alabama rivalry. By contrast, Florida and Alabama played multiple games when everything was on the line from a conference championship to a place in the national championship game. That's why it's a more meaningful rivalry.

There was only one year when LSU-Bama played where there was a national championship appearance on the line for both teams.

2011 obviously, but not 2012? LSU was ranked #5 or so going into the game, and would have won the West and likely overall SEC title had we held onto the lead for that final minute. How can you think there was no national title on the line for LSU in that game?

I think you could even make a case for 2009. LSU had only one loss coming in (to undefeated #1 defending national champion Florida) and was ranked in the top 10. Certainly LSU was still in the running for the NC.

And while we're at it, how about 2010? LSU's chance (7-1 and ranked about 10th coming into the Bama game) might have been a little slim, but certainly was still viable at that point.

But Florida-Alabama played with a national championship berth on the line in two separate years

That is nothing but a product of scheduling. Those two games had more clear NC implications because they were so late in the year and you hadn't played each other in the regular season. Play those same games in Gainesville or Tuscaloosa in early November and they're no bigger than any of a few LSU-Bama games.
