It was time for him to go. I applaud LSU for showing that they want to play for title, not just decent or good seasons.
But Les Miles did win a National Championship, he fielded one of the greatest teams in CFB history in 2011, playing for another title that year. He's always been a fun, upstanding man and leader of young men.
We've all joked about him, and LSU fans have wanted him gone for a little while now, but don't let that be his memory.

He'll be remembered for the good times and a NC.
He had a good run but it's a business and he knows that.

He is a great man, but it was time to go.
Really wish our President didn't frick up the coaching change last year. It was the perfect send off.

I hate to say it, but you absolutely nailed my sentiment. I wish it had happened last November when it was set up to happen. We got beyond the point of no return at that time, and then we tried to return. I am a Les Miles fan and have always supported him. I did not think it was right to fire him last November (yes I see the error of my ways lol). But once they got to that point, they should have gone through with it. The only thing I regret now is that they had to fire him in the middle of the season, and you can't go out with dignity that way. I wish he would have just stepped down last November.

Outstanding post. It is rare when an honest, objective, thoughtful post is made on this board from an opposing fan.

Even Les Miles' national championship was maddening, considering they found a way to lose 2 games in OT to clearly inferior foes and had to back into the title game with an avalanche of upsets.
