Such a shame. Oh, if only something had changed since we played those games. Anything. Anything at all. Preferably something major, like a significant shakeup on our coaching staff or something like that. Oh well, guess we might as well not show up on Nov. 5th.

I know one thing that changed since those games: LSU played the 67th, 61st and 83rd ranked scoring defenses (those are without the LSU games included).

A summary of this thread:

1. I post ranks/ppg.
2. Alabama fans melt after seeing these ranks/ppg

I must've missed the backfire

You mean the part where it turns out Bama scores 2+ TDs over the avg PPG of every team they play and LSU struggles to just beat the avg of half of theirs?

Solid thread would read again lol

Yeah you started playing weaker defenses

And based on Alabama's offense, they likely wouldn't have scored had the defense not done it for them

Well, statistically, Alabama's had 90 offensive drives, not counting end of game/half drives. They have 34 offensive touchdowns (37.7% TD to Drives) and 10 made FG (11.1% FG to Drives)

So, 12 offensive drives erased by NOTs (not going to entertain hypothetical fumble on fumble recoveries/INT's, because you're breaking into quantum mechanic levels of hypotheticals, where Jon Allen is secretly a Targaryen and Woodrow Wilson is still alive), that comes out to:
4.5 Offensive Touchdowns
1.3 FG's made
6.2 drives that didn't result in scoring.

So, that's about 35 points of offense scored. Miraculously take off 84 points scored on NOTs, add back on 35 points, and instead of being #7 in scoring offense, Alabama "is" 23rd" (43.9 ppg to 37.8 ppg)

Putrid, baby (as well as still being #1 in scoring offense in the conference)

JSU not being able to be weighed in surely has an effect
Actually, they are probably about the 3rd or 4th best defense LSU has played. They are currently #13 FCS in scoring defense and #4 in total defense.

Almost certainly better than Mizzou and Ole Miss.

LSU's O scored 14 (You didn't reach the average against Wisky)

Mississippi State: #73 (28.4 ppg)

LSU scored 23. (You didn't reach the average against MSU)

Missouri: #80 (29.7 ppg)

LSU scored 42. (congrats. You beat the average against Mizzou, but didn't score as many on them as MTSU did)

Southern Miss: #79 (29.6 ppg)

LSU scored 45. (you beat the average but didn't score as many against USM as Texas San Antonio did the week before)

Ole Miss: #89 (31.4 ppg)

It's weird. Before Mizzou LSU was below the PPG average given up by opposing Ds. From Mizzou on, LSU has scored well above the PPG average given up by opposing Ds. Something changed between Auburn and Mizzou, but I can't put my finger on it.

Yeah. The defenses definitely got worse.

That's why I went by actual scoring vs average given up. That sort of grades the performance on a curve. Comprende?

Is it really because something changed? Or were those teams just trending up in PPG anyways?

Missouri has since given up 40 and 51.
Southern Miss had already given up 37, 35 and had just given up 55.
Ole Miss has given up 45, 48 and had just given up 34.

All these teams have benefited from a FCS school (and Ole Miss still gave up 13 to em)

lol at "well above" the average. Only if you don't bother looking at where the numbers are coming from (or trending)...baw

Good point, let's look LSU's inability to reach the average PPG per game of opposing defenses prior to the Mizzou.

Wisconsin gave up a little less to Akron, and a little more to Georgia State than it did to Miles' LSU

Auburn gave up more to Ark St and MS St than they did to Miles' LSU

Miss St gave up roughly the same to South Alabama, more to BYU, way more to Umass and Auburn and Kentucky than to Miles' LSU.

These stats are meaningless. Both teams have rosters filled with top tier talent, which means either team can win on November 5.
