I will not be unhappy with him, but I would say it makes him a 2nd tier candidate.

If we finish 8-4 he shouldn't be considered. I don't think he's a bad coach and like him, but he knew he had to likely win out or, at the very least, win every game except for Bama to get the job.

I think O has to win out to even be considered but unfortunately I think I'm in the minority

We could win out and win the playoff and I still wouldn't want Ed Orgeron to be our head coach.

There are lots of successful interim coaches that suck as head coaches. We don't need another dumb, nice guy that can recruit as our HC. We need someone smart who is proven and successful as a head coach running a program.

Give me your list of candidates that are available and would ,without any doubt, take the LSU job.

If you think O is dumb you're dumb.A dummy couldn't revive the team like he has.

He went 3-21 in our division in the SEC.

He was worse than his predecessor and successor at Ole Miss.

He got worse every year at Ole Miss, culminating in an 0-8 SEC record his last year.

He had complete and total lack of institutional control at Ole Miss.

He has beaten teams he's favored over with more talented teams at USC and LSU with players he didn't choose, coaches he didn't hire, and a system he didn't put in place. He is a cheerleader, recruiter, and DL coach. He was been in charge of actually building and maintaining a program ONCE and he was historically bad.

Has he learned and changed from that atrocious stint? Maybe.

Is LSU the type of program that should be the guinea pig to find out? Absofrickinglutely Not.

History is littered with stories of successful interim coaches that suck as head coaches. They are completely different jobs.

ETA:

If Ed Orgeron was from New Jersey there wouldn't be 1 single LSU fan that would want to hire him.

If Ed Orgeron was hired by our division rivals like Arkansas or Alabama, would anyone be scared? Would going against Ed Orgeron make a single person nervous?

Why do no other good football programs want to hire Ed Orgeron as head coach?

What kind of dumb fricking question is this? You have to ask people first. Sorry I don't have Jimbo's number.

First, we cannot finish 8-4 because we are only playing 11 games this season.

7-4 will not cut it.

Coach O will have to finish either 9-2 to be a lock for the position.

8-3, 7-4, or less then LSU will have to look around.

The best statement that I heard from some of the folks we hung out with last week was Coach O's ability to run a multi million dollar corporation and not just the games on Sunday. It is a year around job. USC passed on him. Ole Miss had to fire him.

So is the LSU brass willing to take a chance on a guy with this program?

That would not make me happy. I want LSU to get the best coach that they can get. The team is loaded talent-wise, and we should be able to attract a decent coach. Riding emotion is not a viable long term blueprint for success. I already know some of our fanbase is that stupid, but I'm crossing my fingers that our administration will know better.

7-4 + bowl game win = 8-4.
