Louisiana Tech scary opener for Arkansas given recent history?

Solid mid-major, big road game at TCU the next week.
Toledo was a 21.5 point underdog to Arkansas last season. Bill Connelly had them at 82.9% win probability and a 16.5 point favorite.
Louisiana Tech is a 25.5 point underdog to Arkansas as of today. Bill Connelly has them at 89% win probability and 21.2 point favorite.

Arkansas could have a terrible year. If they lose to Lala Tech and then Kenny Trill styles on them again they might not win one SEC game.

Nonsense.
I mean, I understand the reasoning behind this, but LA Tech loses too much on both sides of the ball. They've also lost their starting QB. The Hogs win this one easily.
BUT, LA Tech will play hard and admirably. They just have too much of a talent deficiency.

I would agree if they didn't lose so much off of last years team.

Hogs roll easy. Then they make Kenny Trill their bitch again

Arkansas isn't that high on the talent spectrum this year. They have done very well by grabbing some great DL players over the last 2 cycles, but they have dipped at other spots on the offense.
I don't think they want to get into any shootouts early this season.

It's not an auto-W but it's also not scary. As long as we don't have 2+ turnovers or crazy amount of penalties, we'll win easy.

Which spots have they dipped exactly?
Arkansas's offense led the SEC last season in PPG in conference play.
This statement is just bizarre. Arkansas's offense carried the team last season.

Again?
quote:
After Arkansas took a 28-14 lead with 5:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, Hill gathered his teammates on the sidelines. “I said, ‘We got this,’” he told CBS’ Allie LaForce after the game. “'Trust me, I promise I’ve got y’all.'”
Hill proceeded to lead Texas A&M to 21 unanswered points. He connected with wide receiver Josh Reynolds for a 59-yard touchdown to tie the game with 2:08 to play, and he found Malcome Kennedy for a 25-yard score to put the Aggies ahead for good. The A&M defense stepped up on the ensuing possession to seal the win.
Hill finished 21 of 41 for 386 yards with four touchdowns. He made a few mistakes, including one interception, but got it done when he counted. Hill showed why he could be a legitimate Heisman candidate down the road.

Inexperienced yes but talent dip would be a big no.
Austin Allen was a 4* and Elite 11 QB recruit.
Devwah Whaley was a 4* and the #3 overall RB recruit.
Rawleigh Williams was an All-SEC freshman RB and trending towards an 800-1,000 yard season before getting hurt last year.
We return our top 5 WR's from the #3 passing offense last year.
Jeremy Sprinkle led all SEC TE's in TD's last year and is backed up by three 4* recruits.
We return one of the best Tackles and one of the best Guards in the league and are replacing the guys leaving with a handful of former 4* guys.
At least do a little research before you try to speak on another team.

It's funny that you claim to know the talent level on our team.

Regrettably our schedule is once again front loaded. If only we could start our seasons with creampuffs like Ole Miss and LSU. Hopefully we will muddle through this year.

I don't think a game like that is often bad as an opener but La. Tech has a winning record against Alabama, one of only a handful of teams.

They lost damn near everyone on both sides of the ball last season.
The only bright spot for their team coming into this game was that they were returning a pretty damn good QB, but he screwed that up by being arrested for DUI, and blew something like a .119 at 5am a couple weeks ago. He has been suspended.
I mean, some teams can suffer losing so much talent, but not a mid-major going up against an SEC team in week one.
ETA: La Tech would need the wheels to fall completely off to have much of a chance. Like, if the Hogs turn the ball over 5 or 6 times, it will get dicey. Otherwise the Hogs win easily.

I will admit of all the teams from Louisiana that Arkansas plays....Tech probably has the best chance of beating us.
