It is withholding, mislaying, or misappropriating meager travel per diem for reasons known only to Goff. I, among others, would be very curious to see an accurate accounting of the program revenue.
Makes it tough, especially on the road, when they withhold per diem and then run out of food on the crap buffet they arranged instead. This is absolutely when a player's parents should get involved.

The way he treated y'all (can you say SWEEP?), I figure that you're glad if he's gone.
He might have a job if he could've done that the other 50 games.

After the way the players were treated during the season by Goff and the shady tactics is used with the per diem, makes one wonder if the team tanked on him somewhat?
I would hope something like that wouldn't happen, but this was an unprecedented horrible season for UA baseball then to watch them man up and sweep a very good Auburn team at the end.

What does it say when you can win everywhere you have ever been except Bama and they don't even give him a chance to win? The cry babies ran him off. He walked into an empty cupboard and tried to clean house and they wouldn't let him. To bad, the guy is a winner.

Gaspard was never this bad.
There was talent to be better than 5-24-1 in the SEC. He has brand new facilities at his disposal as well.
Goff may have turned it around. But his past was catching up. He should have never been hired to begin with.

Were any of these issues addressed on here prior to his hiring? I honestly don't remember. Or is this the normal kind of shadow campaign by disgruntled parents/players to discredit a coach?
Also, the "coach needs to go NOW!" crowd and the "spoiled little snowflakes need to be shown the door" group may both be right. These aren't mutually exclusive concepts. I would guess that a new coach worth his salt coming in will end up telling the malcontent players/parents to hit the skids, anyway. He can go 5-24 with or without them.

He had wins vacated from 2010-2014 at Campbell.

Dunn at Samford would do well in ttown. They'd be competing for titles in two years.
No, they can't have him! We love him at Samfotrd and he is a local kid and an Auburn grad.

If he's so fricking good, LSU can hire him.
The team showed they can play in the only series they cared about, Auburn. The rest of the time, they were showing they weren't going to play hard for Capt Bligh.
Scared, LSU? Why do you give a shite if we run the guy off after one year? You ought to want us to run him off if he's all you say he is. Yeah, Byrne's going to hire a winner. Bama will be back in the thick of things soon enough.

Gotcha. And Battle knew this prior to the hire?
Posted on 5/24/17 at 6:08 pm to SoFla Tideroller
Battle didnt know dick about hiring coaches especially non-football coaches. He got trusted people around him with more knowledge of the sport in question to pick his target. In basketball he went after Marshall. Thank heaven Avery inquired about the job and fell into our lap.
Same thing in baseball. I think the guy that ended up at Texas was the target. When he fell through, they were clueless and someone remembered Goff from Montevallo days and hired him without properly vetting him because they panicked. This is the result.

Battle got bad advice. But I don't think the NCAA case at Campbell was done when Louisiana Tech or Alabama were looking at him. But aside from that, he was still trying to skirt rules at Alabama. Revoking scholarships and denying per diem.
Posted on 5/24/17 at 6:30 pm to CapstoneGrad06
Revoking, or telling players to explore their options because their scholarship wasn't getting renewed after the year? I can't believe a coach would be that overtly stupid.

Id believe that when I see it. A winning SEC record in 2 years would be an accomplishment

And all three left Bama to take other jobs.
Ever ask yourself why?
Perkins took an NFL job. Where he had spent most of his coaching career. He also had the impossible task of replacing Bryant. Worse yet the roster he inherited wasn't too solid. He also rocked the boat. Making changes a lot of people disagreed with.
Curry was always a bad fit. Bowden had the job but the administration screwed it up royally. But Curry recruited very well and left a full deck for Stallings.
Franchione would have done well at Alabama. But he never felt he had full support. The NCAA sanctions he inherited only made matters worse.
I can't predict the future, but it's hard to see what those situations have to do with replacing Saban in 4-5 years. The athletic department and academic administration is light years ahead of what it was 15, 30, and 35 years ago.
