He's really not very good when you look at his work retrospectively. He used to be but he lost his touch about six or seven years ago.

He had Melvin Ingram as a 4th team DLineman.

Ingram was a hybrid DE/LB that went down into a three pt stance at times - but he was 1st team All SEC in 2011 as a DE.

Obviously there are a few bad misses but every single pre-season list that comes out has a few bad misses. Looks like he did a decent job to me

WOW! He must really not have like LSU that year, we only had 1 player in the first team and he didn't even have Mingo on that list at all! Also, he had Montgomery as a 4th team member and TM as a third team member! WOW! He really didn't do that well with the LSU guys at all! He also didn't have Brockers on that list, which is just stupid. Man, that list was a joke!

He was awful with his LSU picks, I remember thinking WTF at Josh D (2nd freaking team) and Stefoin Francois being on there.

He thought Murray was better than Wilson? That's all the proof I need. At least he got Joe Adams right. Wright as 3rd team is hilarious, though.

Duron Carter is the most egregious bc he didn't deserve to be there in the first place.

Bro. Wilson had only gotten mop up duty to Mallet the year before. With the exception of the Bama game in 2010, Wilson had no extended PT. Murray was coming off of a Freshman All-SEC/All-American year with 3,000 yards passing. I would say Steele had it right.

Sorry, but what is so glaringly bad about his picks? They actually look pretty good to me.

They aren't bad really... sans Duron Carter 2nd team.
